Is it worth being away 4 to 5 days a week, when you have a lovely wife, two great kids, a good job, beautiful house...to fly? Please some mature feed back I am having a difficult time deciding. Thank you.

Look at what you really want. Is it to fly for an airline or just fly. You could instruct on the weekends or in the evening after work, or banner tow, fly skydivers, tow gliders. You could try to get on with a small charter outfit (other job would need to be flexible); they would luv to have someone that would be there for years. Crop dusting? Aircraft repositions from factory or private sales? Fish spotting? Traffic watch? Per diem right seat support for a corporate operator? Others....?

Most of these jobs are used as stepping stones. They would luv to reduce their training costs by having someone stay for years. You have to convince them of this, and live up to your word.

How does that sound? Wife, kids, house, good job, flying/fun job, you can have it all.

I was walking the dog this morning and I saw all these people racing to work, blowing horns, et cetera and all I could think of was how much I love my job. I'll do a 4 day trip fi-mon, home mon night back to work sat at 1230pm to start another 4 day. Is it perfect? No, not quite but I think I've got it the best way I can. My wife and I want to start a family and it is difficault with my schedule and her body clock- (I didn't know getting a chick pregnant was like a shuttle reentry with such a limited window with their ovulation). I'm not bringing work home with me and as I build seniority I will be able to manipulate my schedule better. 14 days off a month, worldwide travel benefits- is it worth it? Short of winning the lottery, in a word, yes. God bless and fly safe- Wil
