Sorry to say

Sorry to say I think you did the right thing, I assume no kids, makes it easier. You married the wrong person. She would not have been happy in any of your career choices. She was making you responsible for her happiness, no one can make an unhappy person happy, it is their fault. It just doesn't work that way. There are keepers out there, I have been married 38 years to the same girl, I have had 11 jobs since leaving the Navy, 2.5 years of unemployment, where she kept the household going on her income, 4 years separation, (me gone military) She can pack up a household in one day to move to the next job. A great gal who supported me, raised the family, put up with unemployment, and never threatened to bail out and she is my best friend. Unfortunately she did a poor job of raising our son. He turned into an airline pilot.

Marriage vs Aviation

I think what our Mormon aviator is advocating is that there are many other alternative choices to divorce and among these choices might be a mutully satisfying solution. Divorce is simply the first "solution" that comes to mind when a relationship becomes strained. It is the first choice because we advertise, as a nation, divorce more than any other acceptable lifestyle outside of one woman/one man joined at heavens gate.

If we all think about it for awhile I bet we can create a list of alternative lifestyles that are workable, exciting and creative.
