Worst aviation movie ever

[saltyswede]

Just saw the worst aviation movie of all times Final Descent

[T-Gates]

That one was real bad.

"Executive Descision" was on HBO the other day, it was the first time I have watced that one in awhile. That one SUCKED.

My do theese movies hire technical advisors at all?!

[bigr]

I nominate "Flight of the Intruder"

Well after you pay the big name actors it's too expensive.

I think it's funny whenever someone shoots a bullet through the airplane's cabin the airplane goes into an unrecoverable dive... Every time!

[vclean]

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** Galore couldn't handle the dive resulting from Goldfinger shooting out a window in his JetStar.

[vclean]

Alright, Pu$$y Galore. Ha!

Firebirds

Airport '77

Most of the "Airport" movies were pretty bad. I guess the first one was OK, because it did not try to be "over the top". But "Airport '77" sucked so much more than all of the others because the airplane spent most of the movie UNDERWATER! At least the other movies had some flying scenes in them!

[JCJ]

Con Air

what a piece of crap

No kidding! And it's always complete with papers flying, people screaming, etc.

I vote for airport 77. Total cheese. Stuck underwater and the plane stays airtight? The only thing they could have done to make it worse (or better?) was to have Godzilla attack them.

[FSB99]

i think it would be easier to discuss, which aviation/airline-focused movie is 'good.' i can't say i've ever seen one that was good.

catch me if you can probably came closest, but even that was realtively unrealistic.

[Kill Bob]

Firebirds - "Army Aviations Answer to TOP GUN" - worst movie ever made --- Nicolas Cage should be SHOT - - K

[TWA Dude]

I disagree about Airport '77. I enjoyed the heck out of it. Sure it's campy and bears no similarity to reality ("we're safe under water because this plane is pressurized!") but it's fun to watch. Kinda like The Poseidan Adventure. Now if we're talking about real bad there's always Airport '79: the Concorde. Egads!

[Typhoon1244]

Turbulence
Airport '75
Die Hard II
Any episode of Black Sheep Squadron
By Dawn's Early Light (Rebecca DeMornay as a B-52 pilot...need I say more?)

[Flight_Line]

"Ground Control" - Keefer Sutherland must have been starving to do that one.

The latest terrible aviation movie I've seen was "Air Marshall". I enjoyed the he11 out of laughing at it but my girlfriend made me turn it off after the first half an hour.

[LJDRVR]

Hands down best aviation movie ever was TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH

[onthebeach]

The worst aviation movie ever made was *Jet Pilot*, starring (I'm sorry to say) John Wayne.

[Kill Bob]

Pushing TIN- sucked - K.B.

[jumppilot]

By Dawn's Early Light (Rebecca DeMornay as a B-52 pilot...need I say more?) [/B]

That movie at least explored WWIII, not just in a 'what-if-it-could-happen', but actually does happen!

That is appealing to me.

Worst aviation movie

Great cast, but an incredibly stupid movie:

"Flight of the Phoenix"

Jimmy Stewart and his pax crash a C-119 in the Sahara. While being attacked by Bedouin raiders and dying of dehydration, they build a whole NEW airplane out of the wreckage, and fly out with the passengers strapped to the wings. Sorry. It $ucked.

[B190Captain]

Well I do agree that Airport 75 was kinda cheesy (Erik Estrada as the FE that gets a head full of panel after impact "Julio") but the spot plane footage was rather cool. Filmed before all that model bluescreen sh*t. I was 10 when I saw Airport 79 and even then I thought it was a steaming pile of sh*t.

I do have one question though about the imfamous TOP GUN. When Maverick gets into that 2nd flat spin, was closing his eyes the right thing to do to recover?

[Airpiraterob]

cant remember the movie name, but Humphry Bogart as a post war jet test pilot for a company making a new jet fighter. him and his turmoil of getting along after the war was the main feature.

that was pretty bad. but hey there watsnt much else on at 3pm.

why is it that the bad aviation movies are on when youre sick at home? those movies and "The last starfighter" and "Tron" are always on when youre sick.

[Dizel8]

"They're in a flat spin, heading out to sea."

Huh, not likely!

[fredflyer]

As a C-5 guy, I have to say "Interceptor" was the worst one.... anyone seen that piece of cr@p?!

My favorite part was when the hijackers crawled down the INSIDE of the air refueling boom to get into the C-5.

[Rook]

all I can say is.....

"Think you can handle a loop?"

"Think you can handle the music?"

Rook
600' AGL Autopilot on.
'WHEW!'

[cherokee]

I would have to nominate 'Iron Eagle, Iron Eagle II, Iron Eagle III, Iron Eagle IV" Yes, somehow a teenage boy with no training in the aircraft is able to not only fly the airplane like a top gun, but also manages to somehow get live ammo loaded on the plane AND fly non stop over the Atlantic ocean only to rescue his good ol' dad.

[learflyer]

I think it's funny whenever someone shoots a bullet through the airplane's cabin the airplane goes into an unrecoverable dive... Every time!

G

Or when there is an engine fire or something all of a sudden there is severe turbulence in that dive and the pilot/actor is holding on for dear life!

[brew3departure]

No love for Interceptor?!

Interceptor was a classic! What fantastic writing...the opening shot with the credits rolling said something like..."IT IS A GREAT AND PERFECT MACHINE..." Yeah.

If you look closely, the set used for the cockpit is identical to the one they used in Iron Eagle - at least, the first Iron Eagle.

Hmmm....

-brew3

[BoilerUP]

Lest you forget, in Iron Eagle he had all that way-cool F-16 simulator time

I think Firefox (Clint Eastwood) is probably the worst aviation movie I've ever seen.

Honorable mentions:

Airplane! (gotta love the 707 with radial engine noise)
Independence Day (cropduster pilot to F18)
Passenger 57 (enough said)
...any movie with an Oceanic B747
