The World Chief Pilot said the need 46 more pilots this year due to future aircraft acquisition and pilot attrition.
 
Sorry for less than positive news, but its 46 by this time next year. I'm sure they won't do it all at once however, with new hires here sometime this year.
 
A fair number of these hired will be in the right seat of the DC-10.
 
Pax. They're the ragged out 10s that ATA was going to use for parts, or they're really nice ones we're stealing from ATA (we're just gonna go take 'em), or they're the ones that GAL- formerly known as ATA Holdings ("Holdings" being a key word here for those folks easily confused by facts) purchased from NWA and is leasing to ATA, World and whoever the he!! else they want to in hopes of whipsawing as many pilot groups against each other as they possibly can, and maybe make a little money in the process. So yeah, they're pax birds.
