How many folks do you think come home from a job, obviously a decent job to afford all this computer hardware and then spend hours pretending to be a 747 skipper complete with ceremonial dress?

I hope this guy is a real life driver, who has just spent too much time inspecting the fuel tanks or maybe he makes ALOT of money at this.

I wonder how many “adults” go home at night and bask in front of their computer monitors for 14 straight hours simulating a Pacific crossing? Wonder how many do it while wearing a full Captains uniform?

I’m all for dreaming but this is just a tad bit too far.

aside from sitting in front of a monitor for 12 hours in a captain's uniform, I think some of those sims are pretty kewl...cheaper than a a couple of hours in a real sim, I'd bet...

Seems to me that we are being a little sanctimonious here! Now I have to admit that the guy in the uniform with all the monitors from the first post is way out there but the site referenced above was built by Michael LehKamp in cooperation with his brother Dave, who was born with Spina Bifida and Scoleosis and has been physically confined to a wheel chair since birth. Is it so hard to remeber that everyone here for the most part is blessed with good health that allowed them to earn various pilot certificates and ratings as well as to hold am appropriate medical certificate that allows us to do what others may only be able to dream of?

I play around with Microsoft Flight sim some. You would be surprised at how many hours people spend on this stuff. You can download just about any plane, custom scenery etc. There are even virtual airlines that will hire you to fly their routes.

But it is insipid, you must admit. It reminds me of a couple of radio wannabes when I was in that business. At least one wasn't good enough to be hired as an announcer on his own. He was a good time salesman and made money, so he bought a radio station in town and inserted himself on morning drive.

No, but I'm going to hack into the happy and content DVA (Dragin's Virtual Airline) program and plant a virus that will eradicate your virtual industry-leaing contract, while at the same time electronically sending in rank upon rank of eager virtual PFT fly-for-free grads hired by DVA's management thus bringing down everyone's wages and QOL to never-before-seen lows in the entire history of the virtual industry. If you strike and walk a virtual picket line I won't even bother with virtual scabs because I have old-style virtual Pinkertons on horseback at the ready, armed with virtual yard-long rosewood batons.

And why am I'm gonna do all this? Well, just so I can kick back and watch you go virtually ape-sh*t.
