Word to the wise for LAX based ASA crews.

Just got this from a friend, thought you might want to know since you will be doing some Mexico routes.

After clearing normal customs the entire crew and ONLY the crew was asked to go thru a special agriculture check point at LAX where our luggage was "yet again" sent thru a machine. 9 uniformed personnel were assembled for what looked like "just us". I've seen prison movies where the guards treated the inmates better than we were treated. As far as we could tell, not one
of our psgrs was asked to romp thru this special line. I had a green
salad that thankfully I had declared (it was purchased to be eaten on
the plane and luckily a fellow FA told me to jot it down right before
we left the plane). One of the agents told me they are hot on the
trail for crew member with non-declared items. She went on to say if I
had not written "green salad" they would have charged me $500.

Looks like we are more than one "target" list.

Word to the wise.

This isn't just LAX. Last time I cleared customs in ATL, the whole crew was sent through the "agriculture" check point.

Since all of our trips there are day lines, do we still have to go through customs?

Yes, everyone coming from Mexico must clear customs.

Is it just my imagination, or is the government really out to get flight crews in the last few years? What did we ever do to them? Maybe Dubya secretly hates airline crews because he couldn't be a real pilot.

Yes. 'Cause we all know that if you have a God-Given Widget on your head you're a REAL pilot!:puke:

Your fellow pilots should give you a blanket party in the bag room for makingDelta Pilots look like such tools. Are they all just like you?

Well you are right. I don't think it is that George hates pilots. It is a combination of factors:
1. Pilots are selected for more screening because it is easier - we are usually compliant and good at "Simon Says" - more so than the customer who looks like Larry the Cable Guy after 50 cent beer night.
2. Under Bush, regulation of all types has skyrocketed. We now live in a World where much more falls under Federal Law
3. There is no restraint against wrongful, illogical, irresponsible, mean spirited, or just plain stupid prosecution. Further, our rights to Due Process do not exist when a violation is alleged under many of the regulations pilots fall under.

The current "Republicans" who run our country are much more socialist/totalitarian leaning than the Democrats who were in power. September 11th justified all sorts of spending and power grabs, some of it needed and much of it wasteful. Now that all these programs are in place the government workers have to justify their existence some how.

And this is not to bash Republicans, Elliot Spitzer is the worst example of everything I outlined above - he flat out scares me and he will probably be the next Democrat Govenor of New York.

We need to return power to the people. Your representatives stand on the Fair Tax is a pretty good barometer of how they feel about government power.

Good, one less mindless doosh to listen to!

Hobit likes to put you on ignore when he can't debate you anymore. It's his way of saying "I've lost and can't compete. I am a loser."

Bye Bye--General Lee

Try it folks. It really lessens the tired dribble from the angry DAL Flame Baiters.

Sorry they are so angry at the results of their career choices but, hey you can blame GL for the yes vote after the NO mantra. Nice bend over GL.

Shucks, Fins,

You can always file a class action suit against them!
Nope you can't. They are immune from presecution. And I've never filed a suit - but there are a couple of Defendants that are not rolling over for Elliot Spitzer and it turns out he doesn't do so great when his blackmail fails and he actually has to go in front of a jury.

:rolleyes:That's right Cool Hand, don't be using Listerine. I've heard that you can blow positive if the use was very recent! Good Luck to us ALL!
