Yikes, whadda bunch of sissies. Do you count the peanuts in your poop? Do you note the historical inconsistancies of "Braveheart"? In other words, who cares? If I check in with "Hiya doing" is that gonna ruin your day? No. If I ask for the score of the ball game over center, does that just send the underpants up into your crack? I hope not. I got 20 grand on the Pirates. That'll pay for my first born's braces, alimony and I'll have a little left over for a six pack from Circle K and a hoagie.

Honest-to-god, I heard some Mesaba girl say “negative tally on the traffic” the other day.

I eagerly waited to hear “there-she-blows” but I got “no-joy” instead.

Is that ok? :)

How dare you give them a ride report. Its never bumpy on the ground. Oh well maybe in the west coast it is once and a while.

I love the dudes that say "ROGER" to a question.

i.e.

Do you have the traffic insight? Roger! Well do ya or don't ya.

ROGER = understood

Affimative = yes

Mach80 sounds like the kind of guy that when ya fly with them as a F.O. you make a mental note "never be like this cheese ball"

How about all you educated airline pilots continually calling it pot-able water. Dictionary.com that word: It's pronounced pote-able.

And also: who cares.

mach 80 read your advisory circulars, they are made for all pilots. Lets not make our own recommended calls. Thanks for your advanced pilot thoughts though.

this is so pathetic......who is the idiot who started this.....i suppose people who use their blinkers on the freeway piss you off because thats what new drivers do .....

i hear and use "checkin in with you 310" or whatever alt all the time........ and for sure i will use it all the time now, just cause i know it pisses someone off......i am a jerk like that....yes i am

I think I heard you today up and down the east coast. You must have been following me because there was always somebody using "checkin in".

you people are crazy

this christmas, I'm going to check in with "happy holidays", just to piss off mach 80 AND all the religious nut cakes.

That's okay, cause at Thansgiving and Christmas and New Years thats how I'll check in-with the name of the specific holiday-just to torque mach .80 and the politically correct fruit loops! May even throw Easter in just for good measure!

Maybe I can get someone in a jball to check in as "Heavy" next April 1st...

or how about when ATIS says "read back all hold short instructions" and crap like that... it takes friggin forever, like watching a ilegally long Coke commercial before the movie I just paid $10 to see..... read backs have been an AIM requirement for like years and years now..... i am just trying to write down ATIS and get back to COMM1... jeez! I know there's gonna be birds, I don't care about SLP in millibars or what the temp is to the .X degrees C.... ack!!!

I mostly just give callsign and location, mostly.

They mostly come out at night, mostly. Very good!! This is the most useless post in the history of FI, and this is the second time he has posted the same thing. Maybe a mod could put him in the slammer for a while?

box :rolleyes:

Nothing wrong with this!

Wind check

My instructor got on my nerve for asking this on the short final.
Years later, on a jump seat on a 777, the captain asked the same in ORD.

ATIS could be almost an hour old by the time you're on the short final and your nose is off 30 degree or more...and that's the ONLY time when you'd get the wind direction in 'MAGNETIC'!

Safe, proper, and professional to ask for winds on the short final if you don't know or can't tell.

I really don't give a rat's ass if someone asks for a "wind check", but seriously, unless it's close to a limit, what's the point? Do you caclulate how much rudder you need based on the direction and velocity of the wind? Just straighten the friggin' thing out and land. Besides, with all the bells and whistles on a 777 why don't you just look at the fancy-schmancy wind readout on your MFD? Next time I see a 777 captain I'm going to give him a round house kick, Chuck Norris style, just because he might have been the one who asked for the wind check. Serves him right.

ATIS being an hour old is true, however the wind machine the guy is reading could be located half a mile away from the touchdown zone.

Magnetic vs True is probably no more than 3 or 4 degrees different. I wouldn't be able to notice the difference between winds at 230 vs 235. Besides, if you are tracking the localizer or runway center line, the nose of the airplane will tell you where the wind is coming from.

Like mentioned above, do what it takes to straighten it out and land on the centerline.

It's 17 degrees in SFO... 19 in SEA... 21 in ANC.

It can make a big difference.
