Conde Nast Traveler readers rate top business airlines for '05

September 27, 2005

Readers of “Conde Nast Traveler” ranked Alaska Airlines as the best domestic airline in the nation for coach and first class service.

The No. 1 ranking came in the magazines eighth annual business travel survey. Nearly 2,000 readers, who identified themselves as frequent business travelers, participated in this year’s survey, which ranked domestic and international airlines in five categories – value for cost, food and beverage, seat comfort/legroom, cabin service, and frequent flyer program.

Alaska edged out nine other airlines, including Continental, American, Northwest, United and Delta, to take its first-ever top ranking in the poll.

Respondents gave Alaska top marks for cabin service and frequent flyer program, and near the top in the categories of value for cost, food and beverage service and seat comfort/legroom.

Horizon Air also earned kudos from business travelers in the Conde Nast survey.

Among single-class (coach-only) carriers, Horizon came in fifth behind Jet Blue (first), Midwest (second), Song (third) and Frontier (fourth). Southwest was seventh.

Business travelers lauded Horizon for food and beverage service, cabin service and frequent flyer program.

“We are honored to receive this recognition as it truly reflects all that we’ve been doing to raise the bar in terms of providing exceptional value and service to our business travelers,” said Tom Romary, vice president of marketing. “It’s also thanks to our employees who day-in, day-out, give the extra effort that makes such a difference to our customers.”

Details of the survey can be found in the October issue of “Conde Nast Traveler.”

Congratulations to the good folks at Alaska. You guys have always provided top-notch customer service. I know I've always been treated like a king while flying on Alaska both as a jump-seater and as a paying customer.
