Contract

Is there a Mesa guy on here that can e-mail their contract??? I've seen it bashed a billion times and I've bashed it myself but I've never looked at it and I would like too.

I would like to compare it to the contract I work for now, if wanted I can share that. Let me know.

Why all the fussn' and a-fightn'?

I promiss you, your company dosen't own your aircraft(maybe one or two) you lease them like everyone else. UPS and NWA(DC9's) are the only companies that own a large amount of aircraft.

Ah, well, that IS true. We "own" the leases though. Mostly long-term, 15 year lease arrangements. As opposed to, say, COEX, which woke up one morning and found 69 of their planes being taken away, or something similar at Mesaba.

It's a double-edged sword though . . . we could lose a code-share partner to BK, or no contract renewal, etc, and be stuck with a bunch of plane that still have to be paid for.

AS to the cancellation rate:

1. Mesa was at the bottom of 1 (ONE) statistic. Other carriers were at the bottom for every other stat listed. Yet not a single thread is devoted to non-stop bashing of:

Jet-Blue: bottom of the "on-time" performance pile.

ATA Airlines: Highest percentage of "involuntary Denied" boardings due to overselling

Alaska: Highest perentage of flights late "70% of the time or more".

So it's pretty clear, no one at flightinfo cares about cancellations; everyone at flightinfo likes to bash Mesa. <GASP>

2. Back to the "Mesa is not an airline" thread - - - WX goes down in ORD, BOS, LGA, etc . . . mainline (not Mesa) issues the order to cancel fights to keep precious gate space open for their larger planes.

Our "controllable" cancellation rate is much better, but these statistics don't take that into account. But our codeshare partners know it, and that's why Mesa's services are a valued commodity.

3. Mesa has a sh** contract. Absolutely. But you have to be making money to get contract improvements. Mesa is making money hand over fist. So improvements will eventually come when the contract is ammendable.

Faulty logic

I do! There are lots of better places to work than that.

See if you can't figure out that the one has nothing to do with the other, you really don't think very well, and can't be expected to understand what's going on, but of course you will continue to make illogical statements like that nevertheless.

Let me guess, are you new to this industry? Probably a junior FO somewhere? Trying to figure out why your life is so terrible? Sure, must be those pilots working at that other airline that are to blame... See, now you feel a better for a short while, even though nothing has changed. Good job!
