I agree with gunfyter. He is no dummy, but he is a dupe. He apparently has never been exposed to anything other than a leftist viewpoint growing up. That would explain his belief that he is centrist.

George Soros may have stayed behind the scenes this year, but there is little doubt that he'll be calling many of the shots.

As far as speaking ability, here is Obama when he doesn't have a teleprompter:

And, oh yeah, he said that were 58 states, not including Alaska and Hawaii. If McCain had said that, the media would have jumped all over it.

Maybe he was thinking of Southern California. That would explain one.

Pilots are caught between a rock and a hard spot on this issue. Especially for those in private aviation and to a slightly lessor extent those in the airline industry, our jobs depend on the spending that wealthy people do. If they decide they don't need that corperate jet or that first class ticket, then there will be less jobs. If a company needs to reduce cost because taxes and government regulations have placed a burden on the bottom line, maybe the travel budget gets cut. Without jobs, unions have no reason to exist. There is no doubt that McCain has a record that would be considered anti-union. The question that needs to be asked is whether a uniion actually creates any jobs. I think the relationship that NJ and NJ pilots have is one to be envied. With that relationship, why would you care what McCain's position is on unions?

Let me take your second point first. The Bush Labor Dept. has arguably been the most anti-union is history. It has instituted rules designed to undermine union's abilities to exist, let alone thrive. The Bush administration's appointments to the National Labor Relations Board, as well as the National Mediation Board have been particularly concerning. In one glaring example, Bush appointed Robert Battista, who last December told a joint hearing of the House/Senate that he doesn't believe the primary purpose of the National Labor Relations Act is to promote collective bargaining. Excuse me??

The point is there is every reason to believe a McCain Labor Dept. would be much worse. As cited above, McCain has made numerous anti-union statements over the years. He clearly brings a record of adversarialism towards unions to the table. This is why every Labor organization, AFL/CIO, Teamsters, SEIU and others have not only endorsed Obama, but devoted significant resources to the effort. So that is why I say, a union pilot's vote for McCain, it a vote against his/her own economic self interests.

As for your point about an Obama administration's impact on our wealthy owners. It is true Obama has promised an elimination of taxes for the poor, a tax cut for the middle class and an increase for the wealthy. I don't believe many of our clientele will cancel that trip to Aspen or PBI, because of a tax increase. You can bet they will still be spotted at their exclusive country clubs and on the golf courses. I think the theories associated with trick-le down economics have been thoroughly repudiated. They were an effort paid for and supported in every way by the monied interests in this country to fool you and yours into picking up the tab for their jet-setting life-styles. I'm am not buying it anymore - especially in light of the most recent financial crisis. Look, as pilots, I think it's time we stooped buying into the Republican's efforts to fool/distract us from the real issues. Spend the time to investigate what the candidates are really saying on the issues.

Harsh reality time: You have virtually nothing in common with the people sitting in the back of your airplane, stop voting with them.

Neither one is anything close to an idiot.

Obama is even more impressively intelligent than he seems ince you investigate his life story.

I believe his exceptional abilities were noticed by the right persons at an early age and he was hand-picked and groomed for certain purposes. Much like Joe Kennedy groomed his sons, except Obama did not come from quite the same position of advantage.

When he left home for college ... there were people who were waiting for him. To mentor him.

He is no idiot. He is exceptional. Identified as such like 14 year old pitching prospects are identified by pro scouts. Like children of the same age with exceptional mathematical ability are identified as prospects for top academic careers at elite schools.

So according to you he is a political puppet, always has been and always will be. He may be an intelligent man, but that alone doesn't make him qualified, or the correct choice for the next leader of the free world.

I think you have mostly mischaracterized my statement and its intent except for
the fact that I do not think he is the correct choice.

I think he was "discovered" at an early age by members (Frank Marshall Davis)of the Communist Party USA. He was afterward mentored by a network of radical leftists of several varieties who were contacted by Davis for that purpose.

I think he was recruited and recognized as a great prize. I think there were people planning his career.

Who graduates from Columbia University to take an extremely low paying job as a community organizer for ACORN? The purpose of that was the stepping stone to greater things. He actually became a trainer for ACORN, teaching the Alinsky Method.

Saul Alinsky who wrote the book RULES FOR RADICALS.... said of the Middle Class ... is that they were where the Power in America is. So you have to organize to influence the middle class ... but Alinsky HATED the middle class. Organize them for the purpose of attaining power ... not because you like them.

So I don't think Obama is a dupe or a puppet. I think he knows exactly what he is doing.

I also believe he stumbles and adds several uhhs without a teleprompter trying to hide his true beliefs and plans for america. That's why he has to be so thoughtful. He can't respond quickly to answeres with authenticity. I believe he is a mask hiding Rev. Wright, Frank Marshall Davis, Alinsky, and the chicago machine with all of their ideas. I would like to hope he can be elected with minimal costs to America's security and economy in the long run, but I'm afraid it's really difficult to scale back big government after it gains too much power.

gunfyter
I think we are both on the same side of this. I wasn't going after you. I think that he is still being groomed. Like you said he knows what he is doing, but he knows that he can't do it himself, and he is aligned with some very disturbed minds.

I'm surprised more of his skeletons haven't come to light yet.

For a more rational point of view of the candidates' views on aviation:

McCain

Obama

Seriously, several of the comments on this thread make me worry about the mental state of some posting here. How do some of you pass your medical exams? It's no wonder that the DOT IG is worried that self-reporting on medical forms works on the honor system. Now I am, too.

it will help since he won't be in office, it will be McCain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think McCain sealed his defeat when he chose the smoking-hot ********************.

Really...this chick is dumb as a box a rocks. Good grief...small town mayor....thinks her proximity to Russia qualifies her as an expert in foreign-relations...on and on....

WHO in their right mind is gonna give this chick the keys to the nukes when McCain keels over with a heart-attack, etc...No way.

If McCain we're 50 or 60, I'd say he made the right choice...

But not in his 70's. Nope, not gonna happen.

Ok, now back to the Tina Fey show.
