Jetblue, Spirit and Virgin America all fly A320s and could benefit from a DEN base. JetBlue could be a Southwest killer with this. Just thinking out loud...
Bidding for F9 could be the single best move that JB could make.. UNFORTUNATELY our management is balls out headed south.. Both MCO and FLL moving into intl terminals.
Neelemans AZUL getting more 190's and our SJU getting bigger everyday..
Just cant wait for the new S american cities that will be announced soon. ( sorry have no idea )
Issue with SWA/JB bid does not come down to a bidding war as much as which one is more compatable and likely to be approved.
I will add to above post that JB is no SWA killer with 150 jets and an operations plan that requires cancelling 40 flights everytime a thunderstorm gets east of chicago..
why is that unfortunate. We are going where the $$ is. And as far as cxld flights. The name of the game...during an IROP...is to recover to 100% the next day. So, whats wrong with what we're doing now. If we don't cxl a handful each time...then you run into even LONGER EDCTs and waiting for gates in JFK. We cxl so many because we have two big bases in close proximity in one of the worst wx/atc delay arenas.
I think we've gone way too far in the cancellation direction, and we do it repeatedly in the short-haul to JFK markets where a business traveller might actually try to use our product!why is that unfortunate. We will see by close of business today. I do believe that it will come down the Republic and Southwest though.
