Why does MESA suck?

Let me put in my 2cents here.....And no, I don't like MESA.....but
there is nothing regional about a regional airline anymore.

American Airlines is pulling out of KPVD. They have been flying their MD-80 from KPVD-KORD for as long as I can remember. The route will now be flown by a regional jet, by American -EDIT- Eagle.

No, i mean geographically boss.....old regionals tended to remain within about 500nm of the major airport....Now days we are talking in excess of 1500nm flights. That geographically is not regional.
