If the AWA/USAirways merger goes through, who will be next to merge? Any rumors, speculation?

Rumors? Speculation? You're not going to find any of that on this message board.:D

Air Tran/SWA

Alaska/Aloha or Frontier

Comair/ASA/Mesa/CHQ/Trans States (to be the 1 and only regional out there. Create a monopoly, then pay whatever they want. There will be no where else to go.)

UPS/Polar (except that UPS only wants the routes and some aircraft, not the pilots or other employees.

I saw this one on the internet a couple weeks ago......

JagNotes
11:31 a.m. 04/28/2005

Apr 28, 2005 (JAGfn.com via COMTEX) --Northwest airlines Corp. (NWAC) $5.15 Rumor company will merge with (DAL) $3.45 Should be positive for Delta Airlines.

That would be interesting, but I think DL would have to get rid of some debt and pensions first(or at least get some pension relief from Congress).......

Bye Bye--General Lee

Thats right:

Remember when UPS bought Challenge Air Cargo?

The pilots were not included.

I think an east-west merger with similar equipment makes the most sense. I'd like to think Frontier-Flyi will happen but with Flyi's debt and financial condition it would make more sense for a buyer to simply wait for Ch7.

If AWA-USair falls through I predict NWA-AWA.

Now that their pay rates match, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Kidding, sarcasm...

Remember all the talk/rumors in the late 90's... Delta and Continental... hey it could happen :)

Airtran/Pan Am?

Frontier/Eastern?

Aloha/PSA?

Alaska/Braniff?

Hell its anyones guess these days........:p

And thats all it is .... a guess. Funny how this AWA/USAir gig hasn't really progressed much beyond the rumor stage and the children of Flight Info get themselves all worked up into a lather. Whadda ya' all say we sit back and see what develops first.

I got my money on Frontier and Jet Blue.

SWA and ATA....we can hope!

Digger, shouldn't you be studying? Just because you are already typed on the 757 and flew it for 3 or 4 years doesn't mean that you remember anything about it.

Just make sure to wait a LOOOOOOOOOONG time to start IOE because I need the $$$$$.

Smoochies and I feel bad for whoever gets into the sim after you.

Seconded. Either that or FlyI

JetBlue works far too hard to hire people that fit their corporate culture to allow a merger. I just don't see it happening.

Just like they stuck with one type of aircraft... they have changed the script, already.

Who's script are we talking about?
We write our own words to our own song and if it doesn't work, well, then it's our fault.
As it should be.

AA and DAL. Yea it's crazy. But Delta abandoned DFW & their hubs don't overlap, AMR gets a big prescence in the west.

AirTran and Midwest. Rumours at KMKE last week.

JetBlue will pick up FlyI's pieces, if it comes to that.

Spirit and Frontier. New airbusses.

Last I heard ....

Southwest and Chataqua

UPS and Airnet

Northwest and Chaulks..

US Air and Copa

AirTran and .. and.. and.. .. nobody wants to hook up ??

Hey bro,

I say the same thing and I pray it doesnt happen! I have a lot of GREAT FRIENDS at cactus.

A good source at Cactus told me the deal WILL happen and the details are being worked out. I asked him why your union and employee groups would not protest and start a big disruption. He said it was too early to know the details.

He did not seem too disturbed, so this makes me think that the Cactus guys will be protected. My feelings are that PARKER, HIS MANAGEMENT, & USAIR MANAGEMENT are the only beneficiaries of this transaction. If this happens PHX will be done. Remember PSA and Usair? Usair bought PSA for westcoast presence!!! What really happened was USAir managers got rich and they got rid of the westcoast.

I dont want to see any airline die or any airline employees lose their jobs, but if this merger goes through---Cactus guys need to retain their jobs, bases and airplanes through fences and at all costs...PERIOD. Priority has to be given to the Cactus employees. ( By the way, IMHO, guns in the cockpit and mergers dont mix.)

Good luck and I hope this is only going to be a code-share.
