Donatos

Donatos Pizza has a low-carb, no-crust pizza. VERY tasty works for Atkins and Southbeach.

Lucky for you they have Donatos in CVG.

You'll love it!

When I got married I weighed 210lbs thanks to being a freight dog. Today I weighed in at 168lbs. I pretty much eat what I want. How did I do it? I bought a mountain bike. I have 3 bikes now. During the season I ride about 3-6 times a week depending on my schedule or run if I am out. Last summer I did a 12-hour bike race called Rapture in Misery. I rode 75 miles in about 9 hours. My light went out and couldn’t ride the last couple of hours in the dark. When I finished I felt like a FNG in prison. Next year I plan to ride Ragbri (sp) it’s a ride across Iowa, a rolling party if you will for a week. The ladies look great with biking legs and bikini tops in the middle of summer. I will also do a number of local races and more 12-hour rides

The diets are great but don’t forget to do some sort of cardio work out. We as pilots start out being good about trying to stay in shape at the first part of our career’s, but as we age we tend to lead very unhealthy life styles. Lets face it staying up late drinking and having sex with FA’s will catch up to most of us. lol

Oh yeah sheck your local health market for a low carb pizza they have them in my are.

One last edit BP 98/60 resting heart rate 45. No BS it's on my last physical the nurse about $hit her pants and this was after having caffeine.

I would not say I am on a full adkins, but I did take some steps to eat better.

Cut out white breads, in favor of whole grain breads.

No more soft drinks, except for pretty sparingly. I still drink diet drinks though.

No more all you can eat buffets.

I gained weight doing EMS flying because it was so much on call, that I was drinking lots of soft drinks and sitting around so much saving my energy in case I had a long all night flight

Went from 180 to 160, blood pressure improved, and somehow my vision did too.

And at least this summer I can take my mountain bike in the DC-4 (Tanker 65), and ride around the airport

I, like many of you are learning to live healthier.

My own experience tells me to stay away from such fad diets such as Atkins and South Beach. Although I did the South Beach diet and lost weight I don't believe it is healthy to continue in the long term.

Wellness and vitality has become somewhat of a hobby of mine. My critcism of the South Beach Diet was the lack of fruits and some other natural foods.

It seems as though we are looking for a magic bullet. Eat less, eat the right stuff and move the body.

The best book I have read to date is "The Okinawa Way" (also titled "The Okinawa Program". It is a 25 year study on why Okinawan's live so long. Okinawan's live longer than any other group in the world, and not only do they live a long time but stay healthy until their dying day. Their vitality is not in their genes, either.

Right now I'm a vegan...I don't eat any meat and hardly eat cheese or other dairy. My health statistics are amazing. I took the extreme route...and I'm not advising it is right for everyone.

I've read many studies which suggest vegetarians live approximately 10 years longer than those that eat animal products. Eating animals isn't bad per sey, but the anti-biotics, hormones, cement, manuer and other stuff that goes into them before they end up on your plate is. Yes, I said cement.

The way you think is also extremely important, maybe even more important than what you do with your body. I've known 95 year old obese people still alive and 50 year old vegetarians dying from cancer.

However, I would be careful on high protein diets. Excess protein (and even the U.S. RDA of protein is probably too much) leads to lower immune system function and kidney problems.

Be careful of almost every artificial sweetner too, studies have shown it isn't healthy in the long term.

With so many Americans on high protein diets, sure...maybe we are thinner, but at what cost? Heart disease, kidney failure, auto immune disorder...thin doesn't always mean healthy.

Eat the freakin' tomato sauce...tomatoes are one of the healthiest things you can eat.

Just some advice...take it or leave it. Good luck to everyone.

after reading all these posts i find myself wondering..

........why don't I stop reading all these posts and go for a run...

oh that's right, I live in Chicago and its 20 degrees outside. I'm off to the gym.

Still haven't found a good whole wheat pizza.. The CPK pizza is not real whole wheat, or so they say. Now that I'm in ground school, there is no time to make dough.

Donatos has a low carb pizza which has no dough.. I can throw a bunch of toppings in a bowl but a pizza it doesn't make!

I'm on week 14 of the South Beach diet and I've lost over 40lbs so far.. Only drawback is you can go days without a sh!t. I'm eating Mcdonalds tonight to try and induce a turd...any turd from my body.

LOL!:D

Good luck, I hope that it all comes out in the end!

Eat A Bran Muffin

Geez, if you're plugged up what does that tell you about South Beach?

Anybody know much about Bill Phillips and his "Body For Life" plan?

I've heard that this guy knows his stuff.

just put hotsauce on everything, thats what i did, not too many problems regardless of how much cheese and meat i consumed lol

I never said I was plugged up... What I said was I hadn't taken a dump in 3 days.

Most of what is being eaten on the diet is burned. There isn't enough left to come out the poop shoot. I'm not constipated at all.. Fats and Carb byproducts are what you flush away.. I'm not eating much of either.

It's just nice to pinch a loaf more than 1 or 2 times a week.

You think so???

I think we've gotten lower and will again! :D

By the way... McDonalds wins again... Less than an hour after consumption!

Yes! That's the true, gimmick-free, healthy, no kidding, most common-sense way to manage your body for optimal health results that I've seen. The bottom line is if you are a fat-a$$, you need to adjust your lifestyle if you want to regain health. Unbalanced diets, IMHO, are not the healthy way to lifestyle changes that will accomplish your goals. This plan is. I'd recommend this to anyone. Speakin of diets, did anyone hear about Richard Simmons bitch-slapping another pax on a flight the other day? Bet that was funny to watch!

Instead of Mcdonalds as a method of inducing a healthy $hit, I'd recommend a balanced diet.
