Now this is a touchy subject, and personal as well. I do not intend to offend anyone here, but I know that the airline industry can be hard on a marriage. How many of you are divorced, and how many times have you been divorced? If it is pertinent to aviation, care to tell what the irreconcilable difference was betwixt you and your spouse? Again, I do not want to bring up nasty stories or feelings. But if you're comfortable with it, do tell. I want to know if successful marriages are possible when flying is your career.

If you want ot make someone happy first you have to make yourself happy. Being in this industry sure makes it hard on marriage, but it can be workable I think.

I'm not married by the way, and don't see that happening any time soon.

Divorced

I think I may be able to put some light on this. After spending 44 years flying and being a firm beliver in womens lib. I have freed two wives, but have had the 3rd for 25 years. 38 years at a major and now a DO in a 91/135 operation I can tell you that it takes a special person to live as the spouse of a pilot, but it can work very well.

Not that much diff. from any other job.

Frim? It would be nice to get some frim once in while... :)

FWIW, my second marriage broke up because of the job. She was convinced that I was sleeping with every F/A at the company. I wasn't, we tried a marriage councelor, and it ended up not being worth fighting about it every day. I think that a successful marriage is certainly possible in this industry, but the spouse must be confident and not a jealous type.

OK

Who here as caused a divorce?

yeah, that was my next question. WITHOUT NAMING NAMES OR AIRLINES, how much messing around behind spouses' backs is there? Is it prevalent? To me, messing around w/ a crew member would just make stuff so awkward the next day and the following trips.

Employment in aviation is tough. Unemployment in aviation is tougher yet. My marriage survived the perils of uncertain reserve lines, and junior bid lines, but not the strike, bankruptcy, and ultimate liquidation of my carrier. However, divorce came at an opportune time. I was already so beaten down professionally, that the dissolution of my marriage seemed like just one more push toward the edge for me. But alas, not enough courage to take the bridge, and not enough money to retreat to a narcotics habit.

You see, apparently my ex didn't subscribe to the old adage about not kicking a man when he's down. :)

good lord. you should write country music! glad you're still with us, though!

That's when you get one last Grudge %^&* in. Tape it, and send it to her old man, mother, and all future husbands.
