Given a choice between Pinn and Mesaba, which airline would be a better place to go work for?

Considerations are, better management, better training, benefits, pay, life style, equipment, etc.....

Mescraba takes a more conservative approach, and hires chimpanzees to operate their aircraft. Pinnacle would rather hire well rounded humans and train them to the lowest possible standard, kind of like an experiment or something.

Well, THAT didn't take very long, did it??

With Pinnacle being in negotiations and mesaba having a contract in place, I think pinnacle's growth is going to start slowing down and the tables should be turing in mesaba's favor. I would lean toward mesaba but don't count out anyone who calls you back. I may be a little biased but I think mesaba's turn for a growth spurt is very near. Good luck

Chimpanzees huh?

Don't fly unless it's for fun

Why screw up a fun hobby?

Get a real job. Airlines, especially regionals, eventually create pissed off employees. What's the point in getting a job where you'll be miserable? A lot of people on this board seem miserable to me.

Just my opinion.

Only a joke, to be taken lightly... I have high respect for Mesaba crews, as I spent many years traveling on the Metros, Saabs and Dash-8's as a passenger....
Funny story, I used to work for a run down collector-dodging freight operator, and the D.O. came in the office one day to announce that he had talked someone into purchasing a really nice Metro and leasing it back to the company. I went with a former Mesaba captian to pick the airplane up. As soon as she saw the tail number she about had a heart attack, it was the exact same airplane she had accepted delivery of for Mesaba many years prior. To use her words, "it was a piece of crap when Mesaba got it, one when they got rid of it, and even worse now."

I'm happier than I could ever wish to be. So we aren't all miserable. But sometimes I pretend to be so my friends don't get jealous.

My opinion only, I think Mesaba has a better chance at getting future growth. Management-Pilot relations are not exactly perfect at 9E right now (Understatement).

The pilots at Pinnacle are a pretty good group of people. I have a few friends at Mesaba, and they are good people as well.

Good luck.

Pinnacle - No Pay In Training, No Hotel In Training, No ID in Training

Mesaba - Pay In Training, Hotel In Training, ID in Training

If I had the choice, I'd choose Mesaba.... for those reasons alone

Upgrade time could reach Mesaba like levels if no CRJ's are added past the recently announced 10. And if NWA follows it's history of whipsawing MSA and PCL against eachother, Mesaba could see a growth period during the height of the PCL negotiations that have already broken down once. Or NWA could bring in a 3rd Airlink and put the screws to both PCL and MSA.

It's a crapshoot, go with whichever will afford you a better QOL. That is paramount to anything else.

Just how new are you? lol

New? Nah... I'm just the eternal optimist. Plenty of booze and girls will do that to ya!

Admit it, Chicaga, you're pretty new over there. :)

What is it, three months?

Well yeah, I'm new. I think 3 months or something. 4? I lose count. But being new would probably work against a good mood, not for it... you know, reserve! ;)

Pilot-management relations always go south during negotiations. You think it's bad now, just wait til next year this exact time when you guys will have received your last airplane (at least what is known for now.) Mesaba went nearly 3 years in negotiations, and the last 6 months to year up to our strike deadline was probably the roughest anyone could experience.

9E is probably the first airline for a good portion of your pilots and they're in for some serious NWA style union-busting- it gets f-ugly and u just gotta stand your ground.

Has mesaba ever have a growth spurt or are have they always had the leftovers from 9E?

I believe we got jets before 9E did...and what was it 9E was doing when the AVRO's were coming over?
