Just put your prefrence down.. I don't know how to make a poll or I'd have done that. If someone does, feel free.

Wherever I'd be more senior while I search for another job. Prob'ly SLC, no wait....I told myself I should do the Costanza "opposite" plan from now on, make that ATL.

Couldn't really frickin' care less which I go to at this point. And don't worry I'm very junior so I don't have much say anyhow.

LOL! Great Seinfeld episode. Good luck - SLC actually isn't that bad of a place.

SLC baby!! I can't wait, as it puts me much closer to Southern California than Atlanta!! Plus, it looks like skiing could become rather regular in winter!!

I am in ATL now, but will give serious consideration to SLC if it goes moderately to very junior. The lastest prelims says there are 60 slots on each seat, and no one had bid it as of the 8th. But then again, I wouldn't have expected anyone to have his bid in on day one.

Talked to the cheifs at DFW and as of now SLC is going senior. They are keeping a running poll on one of the doors I guess so you can see the way things are going.

I saw the list too today and there are a lot more people on it than I anticipated would go to SLC. It may not go junior afterall, which is fine because I didn't want to go there.

Nobody probably knows this, but how will the lines look in ATL? Should a junior DFW guy expect to be on reserve a long, long time on the 50?

As of the 1630 printing last night there were 37 FOs and about 40-50 CAs that have bid SLC. The CA list is surprisingly senior.
The ATL list is much shorter...some of those bids may in fact be people that forgot they listed ATL as a choice behind DFW on their current bid sheets. If that's the case, the company will NOT pay for your move because it would be a standard vacancy opening, not a displacement opening.
SLC guys are sitting fine with any interpretation of the contract, because its a new domicile open less than 6 months...their moves are covered.

Just to clarify, if Dfw is your first choice and ATL is your second choice then they will pay for your move.

When you say senior, what sort of number range are you talking for SLC? Most here in ATL are sort of biding their time trying to figure what everyone else is doing.

Capts are going very senior. FOs its mixed. I think about 2/3s of the list (capts)was 600 or below. I don't remember the exact #s but something like that.

Drew posted on another thread that it was looking like somewhere around 540 would be junior most SLC Capt.

Heh. It's sort of funny to be considered very senior. It just doesn't seem like I am.

I haven't been in to Ops in a few days.

Could you give us an idea what the #s are looking like.

When you say much higher, do you mean much higher seniority or much higher number (more junior)? As in junior guy is say, 400 or he's 800?

SLC here I come!

Thoughts on SLC

Anyone putting any thought into the following when bidding SLC?

ASA is planning on placing just 19 (?) CRJ-700's in SLC. In 2005, ASA is taking delivery of 23 (?) CRJ-200's. All things being equal, that would imply that the only movement upwards in 2005 will take place in ATL. If you go to SLC, looks like you'll never upgrade to Capt unless you go back to ATL. Now, if they decide to add 50 seaters to SLC down the road, then my theory falls apart.

I have no crystal-ball. I'm in the same boat as many, I just don't know what to do?

Cheers,
K

Klamath,

Good point. It's a tough decision, all things considered. When I got hired, I was originally Dallas based. I loved it, and did not want to move. I was told the Jet would never see Dallas.....So I moved to Hotlanta. I don't know what's gonna happen, but you just have to make a good decision for yourself based on the info you have. I hope it works out well for you.

I just wanted to let you know that you guys have my compassion and best wishes whilst you decide what the heck you need to do. It still doesn't seem real, (and I don't think that it will ever feel right), that there is no longer going to be a DFW base. There was always something special about DFW, and everyone based there. I hope that SLC turns out to be a fun place to live and work, and for those of you staying put in the metroplex and commuting to either SLC or ATL, my thoughts will be with you.

*hug*
