Thnking about taking a job flying out of DTW and don't know jack about the area up there. I'd like to stay in a decient apartment within a 30 minute drive to the field. Where do the NWA or Airlink crews reside? Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

I live and commute out of DTW. I am not familiar with house immediately around the airport. I just moved from Novi, MI and it was just over 1/2 hour north of Metro off I-275.

You may want to checkout Portsmouth Apartments they will run about 600-700 for a nice one bedroom overlooking a pond. There is plenty of food and shopping in the area.

Good luck

How about living where Eminem grew up? On Eight Mile drive..... Your kids could learn to rap and then make movies about it. That would be DOPE.

Ann Arbor....No chance on an "Airlink" income. Try around Wayne, Westland, or Yipsilanti. In that order, not too costly and not overly ghetto.

The Sad part of this statement General...

Delta Airlines Market cap as of Friday: 403 million.

Eminems estimated worth (Jan 05): 675 million.

 ..

Make sure that you look in Novi! it is probably a little more expensive than living in by the airport! there are alot of really cool bars and it is a pretty young crowd that lives around the area! Good Luck!
GO PISTONS!!!!!!!!!!

General you're dating yourself dude. You should know by now that the term all the cool kids are using is Phat.

To quote Eminem,

That's my 10 cents

If you want to live cheap and close to the airport (10 min Drive to Metro/5 min drive to Willow Run), consider Belleville. Granted, there is nothing there to do, but it's close and not violent. Southport Apartments, Westlake Apartments are nice. If you want cheaper and nastier....Harbour Club Apartments. Hope that helps. Novi is really nice, but it is much more expensive. If you're looking for a cheap Novi, try Canton.

Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti are both college towns if your looking for a younger crowd, Lots of crash pads in the Belleville area South Port/Harbour Club apartments are cheap and close to both Willow run and DTW. I would stay West of DTW.

p.s. I know the harbour club gives a discount for NWA/Airlink employees.

Good Luck

Any one know where I can get a list of crash pads in the DTW area. I need one within the week.

Ohio...it's not that far. And it's much better than Michigan Taxes.

Yeah...but you'll pay it back twice in speeding tickets from those Nazi cops you have there...stay away from the paranoid state!

Ypsi.. Ann Arbor

Ypsi seems to be getting their act together. Some bars and cafe's.. Only a few "bad" areas. Some great bargains on old homes.

Ann Arbor is a great town. Lots going on. Property $$ is out of control though. Not much under $200,000 if your looking to buy. That is even for a 1000 ft2 ranch. Very walkable/bikable city. ~25 minutes drive to metro.

Ypsitucky....lots of flannel

yea....you save a few hundred bucks...pay about a bunch more in gas for comutting. On top of that, you actually would have to live in ohio....yawn

Just make sure you don't go East of 8 Mile...........fo' real!

There should be a crap ton of appartment/condos in Livonia township as well (It's largely a bedroom community,) also look at Plymouth Township for apartments. I'de agree with most of what everyone else said about where to live. If you want to live a bit more in the "country" SW of DTW is for you.

Yeah! Don't go south of 8 Mile.

Don't go back to Rockville.

And Stay out of Woolworth's!

Don't go too far east of telegraph. on 8Mile(or any other roads for that matter). It gets kinda ghetto in a hurry.

IF you want a country redneck feel check out Taylor, MI.

Try the Day's Inn at Metro Airport on Middlebelt road.......$31.00 per day.....with food/beer in hotel rest.........

Check out Fairway Veiw apts on I-275 and Michigan Ave. My company put me up there for a few months. Nice place, not too expensive, and the biggest bonus- Free Golf!!

I used to live in Ypsi. Anywhere near Eastern Michigan University is a decent area. I live in Portsmouth Apartments in Novi now. Much nicer, but a little more pricey area. Its about a 20-30 minute drive to Metro, depending on the time of day.

CAnton is an exploding community and it is right by a freeway I275 that can get you to metro in 10-15 minutes. I lived there for 15 years. Good place
