Nonstop, I am sorry I did realize how over worked and under appreciated you are, my mistake. I guess the thrill of getting up in the morning knowing you will get to fly an airplane today just doesn't hack it. If you are in this business for money, respect, recognition, and appreciation, you may be disappointed. Fly because you like to. BTW It was posted on the regional thread, but it was a question about career options. There are many posts on this thread that have nothing to do with regionals. Loved your "Top Gun" quote, I am proud to be in your thoughts up here at YIP.

Join the military. You get to fly cool planes and blow crap up. Plus when you get furloughed the first time, you can fall back on your military job. Then when you get recalled and then merged in the upcoming consolidation that the industry is heading toward and then get layed off again, you can fall back on your military job. Then when you get recalled again, and you have put in your 20 years at the military, and the airline your working for liquidates, you can have all kinds of cool stories to tell your fellow Wallmart greeters.

i really enjoy beating off. sometimes, it's even enough to get me up in the morning. i'll bet i could even get people to pay me poverty level wages to do it in front of them. doesn't mean it's a good idea to do it as a career.

enjoy the journey not the destination. If we do anything for money then we will never be happy. Look no further than teachers...pay sucks...job kinda sucks...but if they didn't like it what would our kids do? As long as you work for someone else you will never be rich...so you might as well love what you do.

rptrain, you should change careers then if you do not like flying airplanes. I am still living the dream and would change very little in my career, I am truely lucky to doing what I dreamed about as a 5 year old kid 57 years ago.

I recently graduated from ERAU and just finnished up my CFI. I am currently working on my Masters but I still have a while until that will be finnished. I am at a total loss as to where I want to go. I know that because I am still fairly low in hours I have a while until I can apply to any fractional or regional. But I still dont know which is better. My ultamate goal is to fly for Southwest or any Major for that matter. I have some friends in the Air Force who sware by it and others in the Regionals who love their jobs as well. Can anyone give some advise to a low timer like me who is a little ignorant of the true ways of this industry. Thanks.

Well judging your avatar you may want to think about management, lying, stealing, or just be a limp dick. - just kidding good luck enjoy the flight intruction-go to the military...
