I haven't heard anything lately about when jumpseats will be restored. I know the TSA was going to try it out for 6 months but when will this start. I can't beleive they have control over this issue when they have only been around for a short time. I'm glad my ALPA dues are paying off so we can get guns in the cockpit first.

I have also heard about the TSA restoring the J/S privilege-however with any government agency who knows how long it will take? I will say one thing about the TSA, they are an agency granted the most onerous powers by the federal government over our profession and how we procecute it, despite it being relatively new.

This is the agency that proposed "pulling" a pilot's certificate without any due process if he were deemed a "security risk" and would have got away with it if it were not for the public outcry.

They seem to more in common with the gestapo.

The jumpseats are back....the problem is not a single major airline has implemented the computer system...money is too tight. For a jumpseater to ride both his airline and the host airline have to be connected. An additional problem is many of the monochrome screens at the gate do not support the new software. Don't expect to see any progress for another 6+ months at least.

It's my understanding that the airlines are ready. The system was supposed to be in place now and operating for the initial group and the TSA put a stop to it. I will check and see who is holding this up.

As usual, the pilots quality of life takes a back seat...:( TC

Remember that we are rich and have a lot of time off. Our working lives are spent jetting off to Paris, Rome, London and other cool places. And we get to hang out with a bunch of hot flight attendants, at least three for every pilot. We have a great quality of life!

Don't I wish.
