Hey guys, curious if any of you have had this happen to you before...

I went 5 months and sent off 60 resumes (to 91, 121, 135, Flight Schools, etc... you name it) without hearing back from a single company... got pretty exhausting and discouraging. Then, out of nowhere, in the last week or two I've gotten four calls for interviews... from two 121 carriers and two 91 operators (one flying C402s, the other King Airs). When it rains, it definitely pours.

Is there just a lot of interviewing going on around the industry right now? This is my first time really trying to "enter" it, so I'm not too sure if it is always like this (in the spring), but it feels weird.

To those of you in my position, keep your hopes up... you'll get called!!

Someone gets a few interview offers and it's a sign of a major pilot shortage? That happened to me just over a year ago, was that a big sign too?

Interviewarama

Actually, it was your mom performing sexual favors. Speaking of which, you'll be getting a call from my company shortly...

Every little part is a sign of the hiring boom next year, you have to believe, just like your "howgoesit" trend line.

Hi!

I just talked to a new Pinnacle guy, who was a flight school instructor in WI.

They haven't had problems filling their 20 slots for new students, but just lately they can't get enough people to fill their classes. Pinnacle can't even get enough people to interview, much less fill new-hire classes.

2005 was the best year ever for virtually every jet manufacturer-from Boeing to Cessna. This year the 1st VLJs start rolling out.

I read that PIA (as in Pakistan) can't find enough 777 Capts. They keep leaving for other companies.

For what it's worth....

Good luck.

Maybe because people don't want to go to work for Pinnacle. I am out of work right now. My resume has not, is not, and will not go to Pinnacle unless that place changes 180 degrees, and even then I might not. I know for a fact I am not the only person that thinks that way. I'd rather remain unemployed as to work there...Same goes for Mesa, Colgan, Commutair, Big Sky, ect.... Some places I just don't want to work at for one reason or another.

Sweet deal. How lucky to be an American living in Pakistan these days.

Haha, as for Pinnacle, does anyone remember last summer's USA Today ad? Apparently pilots weren't showing for class so they decided to offer up housing and a few other things that almost all others regionals already offered. Then put an ad in the tabloid to announce how great it was. One of the guys on here told me they had something like 15 people slotted for a class and only 7 showed when they actually started. Ouch!!!!

Hmm, too bad flyf15's mom didn't know that, she would've realized they'd hire him without her "services...."

Yeah, my wife kinda has a thing for big bad jet pilots. She says they're much studlier than us turboprop pukes. She especially likes CRJ FOs, she thinks they're so cute when they're walking down the concourse with their backpack and iPod. Last time we were in MSP she saw one stealing a USA Today and she nearly came in her pants.

[edited to delete reference to CRJ operator flyf15 is going to...with 600 hrs, I think ya'll can figure it out]

If you go to Pinnacle, you can pull gear for the great PCL_128! Gulfsream Academy poster boy!

Sorry 99... ...the hiring boom will not apply to you. :(

Try back in 2017.

Adam, no not at all. The signs are all here, lower end airlines are having trouble filling classes, my pool half life has dropped nearly 50% in the last 2.5 years, and the volumn of jobs ads being placed on climbto350. That is the good news, there will be lots of jobs, the bad news it they are not the jobs that get the long lines at the job fairs.

Yeah I know what you mean. Everyone wants to fly a 777 but nobody wants to fly the c-402 to get there.

Tell me about it...we pay fairly well for 402 drivers and yet it's like pulling teeth to find someone to a) want the job and b) move to where the job is.

"Can I commute from Timbuktu to Reno???"

"No...that's a 6 hour drive each way."

"Well...can you rent me an apartment?"

"No...we have a crew apartment at the domicile in MHR."

"What about my dog? Can my dog fly with me?"

"Huh? "

Thanks, I'm still short on the 135 mins anyway, but I'll keep it in mind and look it up towards the end of the year!

As for my current position, it either there or here

You mean to say you pay for the USA Today? I didn't know it was for sale or how much it costs.
