Any recent word about hiring at Omni Air International? Yes, I have reviewed a number of the previous posts...

I know they operate DC-10s and a few 757s (I have seen a few DC-10s at HNL). A couple questions:

1. Are newhires hired into the FO seat - do they have PFEs?

2. What are the pilot domiciles - is everyone in Tulsa?

3. For the 757, do you need a type (or only ex National pilots selected)?

4. Is this a good place to work - any opinions from OAI pilots?

5. Lastly, as a potential DC-10 newhire, what would my likely route profile be - any examples?

Thanks for the info!

I know they fly a DC-10 every 10 days from LAX to Tahiti for a cruiseline, and they fly 757s from LAS to HNL.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes: ;)

Since this thread is more than a year old, I'd like to reiterate Heavy Set's questions above. Heard on climbto350 that they are, once again, collecting resumes and also attending a Job Fair in MIA next month.
I know all about their fleet and history but wondered about their type of schedule and where they go. What's a typical month like - on both 757 and DC10? Is the pay OK? Any OAI crew member like to chip in?
Thanks.

3 atr drivers just went although 1 was an rj FO. So far they like it. All PFEs. Thats about all I know. All 3 assigned DC10 FO.

I think they do a few flights a week for MAC charters from ATL to Frankfurt. I am sure that beats MCN or CSG on the AT7.

Bye Bye--General Lee

In New-hire class with Omni right now. Class started 3/21/05 with total of 11 pilots, 4 of which are FE's. All flight crewmembers put on master seniority list regardless of position you are hired at. FE's are able to upgrade to FO after meeting Hour requirements or management approval (Check-Airman recommendations). I believe there is another class starting around April 25th. No Idea how many that will have. All current Newhires are going into DC-10. From my experience in class so far, seems well organized for small carrier, yet very laid back place to work. Have heard it's great place to work if your lifestyle allows you to be gone up to 18-22 days in a row. All people I've met (admittedly few) have been helpful and very professional, Pilot-Friendly individuals! One last thing. Everyone in class had either internal recommendation, 10 type-rating, or lots of 121 PIC time. Hope this helps! Good Luck to all!

I worked there for a little over a year. You are home based, but that doesn't mean much. You are out 18 days a month and they can hold you out 4 additional days. I was once out for 36 days due to bid months running into each other. I was very seldom over the 60 hour guarantee. They tend to get you right up to your guarantee and then the flying dries up. There is a lot of sit time overseas. The pilot group is a good bunch of guys. I had fun flying with them, but it was not enough to keep me there. I got recalled at my old airline and it was a no brainer to go back. If you need more info PM me and I can give you more specific information.
