Saw the following job posting on a site but no other details. Wondering if this is either the Venetian or maybe more likely (see security clearance) Area 51 Janet c/s since they both operate 737s and both are located in NV. Any ideas?

Title: Boeing 737 FIRST OFFICER (PILOT) Company: US CorporationProduct/Service: Location: NVRequired Travel: NoneJob Type: Full-timeEmployment Type: PermanentDescription: Must possess background and experience sufficient to pilot a Boeing 737 aircraft. Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. Must hold a First Class Medical Certificate issued by the FAA. Work is primarily sedentary, with some walking, bending, stretching and climbing. Lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. Must be able to qualify for a TS/SSBI security clearance.
Requirements: In addition to the minimum qualifications, a minimum of 4000 hrs., a B-737 Type Rating, and an active TS/SSBI security clearance is desired.

There was a JANET thread awhile back and the job descp. sounds about the same.
Question for ya, I know TS is top secret but what is SSBI?

It's URS / EG&G .... the same company that runs flights into A51 and several other restricted areas.

ssbi stands for Special Security Background Investigation, or very close to it. U have to be pretty clean to get one of those.

Under the rubric Top Secret there are various sub-clearances, such as:

SSBI - Single Scope Background Investigation

SCI - Sensitive Compartmentalized Information. Very few people are cleared for SCI, with the background investigation process as well as the ongoing monitoring of cleared individuals being extremely intensive.

There are other sub-clearance grades.

Anyone who's ever posted on FI is banned from getting any kind of secret clearance. :D TC

This is not quite true about the SCI almost all of us that flew the RC-12 in the Army had to get TS-SCI clearance to enter the SCIF facility. It was quite a long process, so there are probably more out there than you think however most of us that got out are no where current. I believe you have to update it every five years.

The way I ought to have phrased this was "Very few people when compared with...," which is true when compared to the number of people receiving SSBI clearances.

You are absolutely correct regarding the 5-year window for re-clearance, given that ongoing monitoring is conducted.

Thank you for the clarification.

Much appreciated.
