I'm all set for my June 1st class, taking a little break from the studying. I was just wondering (I know it's been asked before) how quickly I can get based in PHX (home sweet home). I think there are 2 classed after mine in June, and rumor has it at least one in July. I heard once the about 3 classes behind you could get you PHX, is this still holding true?

Thanks

Who knows. It took me 4 months to get to PHX from MDW, but back then we stopped hiring for a bit. I would say that with 2 classes a month, you should be able to get back in 2-3 months. PHX is pretty darn senior now. For my seniority level, only Dallas is more senior. Bummer. Good luck and get to PHX quick so I can increase my relative seniority.

seniority

I've been at SWA for ~ 15 months. My system seniority is 87.2 (percentage of SWA pilots senior to me).

As far as F.O.s...the seniority breakdown (as of now) for me at each base is:

MDW 66% (34% of the F.O.s at MDW are junior to me)
OAK 72%
BWI 77%
HOU 77%
PHX 83%
MCO 87%
DAL 98%

These numbers change as bases expand and contract relative to one another. MDW has been the growth base since the ATA announcement. Who knows what the future holds?

Good Luck!

The vacancy bid for July just came out. Most new hires are still going to OAK, with a handful going to MDW and BWI.

The junior captain is now in MDW, BWI had been junior for the captains for a while.

Where's the bid results? Not on SWAPA and not provided by the company unless you are in the lounge.

Check your company e-mail in the crew portal, too. Most months it makes it in there.

Email from crew portal sent directly to my personal email address. I have not seen it sent by the company in months. SWAPA does not have it on the web site.

I get the crew portal email forwarded to my private email. The vacancy bid results get emailed as soon as they come out. Got them twice today.

Not sure why you're not getting it, you may want to double check your settings in the crew portal.

PM me with an email address if you want me to forward it to you.

Phx

I was hired in Nov. I spent my first two months in OAK and got PHX in April. They only awarded 2 FO's PHX in May(both senior). For June, they awarded 10 FO's three of which were lower seniority to myself. It looks like they're slowing PHX down a bit while they staff MDW and BWI. My guess right now would be 4-5 months after getting online. I hope I'm wrong and it goes faster than that for everyone's sake :) Have fun in GS!!!!!

I get the Read Before Fly's okay. When I go to the portal and click on Mail all I get is "Your NetMail session has timed out".

I will have to call the help desk. I am in ALB and have to lobby in 10 minutes, thanks for the offer. You only have 24 hours to protest it. I just don't want to find my name on another base. It has happened to a few pilots in the past.

6-9 months--depending on how many we're hiring. The good news is that most of the new guys wind up in OAK for their first month after IOE with a guaranteed hard line. The bad news is that most of them bid out of OAK a month later and are replaced by a new crop of new guys who have a guaranteed hard line. (40 in Aug!) The process continues until enough guys who want to stay in OAK wind up below you to suck up all the reserve lines (25-30 a month) and you can get a blank (VR) line or a weekend hard line. Just all part of paying your dues and living the dream.
