What's the attrition rate at Comair these days?

Not as many as in the recent past. Company says official its around what it was in 2005, but once we get the bankruptcy payout expect it to peg out at full max out-flow.

I know many how are waiting then leaving ASAP.

The company won't be able to train newhires fast enough, that is of course if they can recruit people.

FYI payout should be happening within the next few days.

When I joined in mid-2005, they were saying it was 7/month. Last I heard it is still higher than that, about 15/month. I bet after the payout it'll go to 30+ again.

Attrition can't be as bad as MESA. we are loosing 120 pliots onthe average a month, they are going toi JB, and saddly other regionals. There is a class action thing going on over ther about lsack of payment. (Let them deal with that.)

Wow...back in the summer of 2002, Comair was the HOTTEST place to be. I knew a guy who had 3,000 hours with F-18 time, and he couldn't get an interview at Comair. Tells a lot about how quickly this industry can change.

12/02. Newest upgrade classes were delayed 3 months, due to a decrease in attrition/sick calls and "sim issues." Last I heard, attrition was down to 11/month. On average, we lost 35/month all last year. I would expect attrition to spike in the months after the bankruptcy claim awards hit our 401k's.

This "2nd year FO" is getting significantly less than that despite the fact that I took a pay cut almost twice as much as you and can't bid out of the CR7 for a decent schedule.

2nd yr is not a lot less, I hit 3rd yr in the next week and my payout is in the mid of 16 17k

I jsut finished 2 years here and am taking in 16,500ish. Why can't you bid out of the 700?

I've been there since December, getting $11,433.

Lots of guys are saying they're getting thier payout, and walking with no 2 weeks notice.

The point is it was totally seniority based. I hit 3rd year pay in about 5 weeks and I won't get 15, but I'm taking a bigger cut than you (assuming you fly the CRJ). The negotiating committee didn't have a problem negotiating a larger pay cut for CR7 pilots, but can't seem to figure out how to compensate us for that cut.

Why can't you bid out of the 700?

Three year seat lock (for a transition into an airplane I'm already qualified to fly). I could do it but it would be very impractical, considering I will likely upgrade in that time. So I'm stuck with a terrible schedule and I now make less than CRJ FOs in my class, because they have lines and there isn't a significant premium to fly the CR7 anymore.

Your first sentence says it all...seniority rules in this business. The payout is and should be based only on seniority. I think the union did a pretty good job at dividing the pot fairly.
