that decided to have sex with an underage woman in a public facility? Is he now getting it from Bubba in prison for his transgressions on a minor?

I didn't hear about that, but one would hope that he is being punished. Bad publicity hurts all the pilots and companies. My husband has flown kids that were traveling alone. It would be bad for business if owner/parents felt they couldn't safely send their children on a trip without escorting them. Speaking as a mother I say lock him up!

I heard he was innocent of the charges and released, and is now mopping up his life after the false accusations.

That didn't sound like a union issue to me. I see it as a criminal matter. Anyone convicted of such a crime would be a disgrace to their union. I have no idea if the pilot belongs to a union or not. Doesn't sound like a member of 1108 because I think I'd have heard of it otherwise.

Since you guys are curious....a union could help a pilot accused of a crime make sure the contract was followed in giving him time off to deal with legal proceedings. It could make sure that rules were followed if the pilot wanted to use his 401K to pay for a lawyer. If the pilot was found to be innocent future upgrades would be assured because rumor or prejudice wouldn't play a role in the pilot's ability to upgrade. If the pilot was guilty and went to prison the union would have a representative on hand to address the new hire class which included that pilot who took his place.

I thought my first post on the subject was sufficient but now that you brought it up, I can see that looking at it from a union perspective imparts helpful, reassuring information. in the event that a union pilot is ever accused of a crime it's nice to know that others are there to protect your job rights while you defend yourself in court.

If that is correct I apologize to the falsely accused pilot and his friends. I took As214's post to mean that he had been convicted. If innocent, then I certainly hope he does have union membership that will protect his career progression. Overcoming rumors like that one would need all the help he could get.

Borta, a friend once had a parrot named Bogart that I took care of for awhile. Some of H. Bogart's posts give me flashbacks of that squawking parrot. Poor taste indeed and not too original...just like that other Bogart.

You sound like management!!!!

To the mother of all union marms:

Netjetwife, you sound just like a management type.

WITHOUT knowing all of the facts, the pilot is GUILTY as charged. What about due process, protection, and fairness? The accusations were false, the case dismissed.

Had you been the judge, he would have been wrongly convicted. Shame on you.

Now, go back to your family's pursuit of justice and leave the law to those who know. Meanwhile look in the mirror, cause you sound like MANAGEMENT to me!

Yes but the dumba$$ still had consensual sex with a 16 year old girl in a stairwell.

SC, my post followed the one that reported the case as though it had been tried already. Your lecture just looks vindicative considering that I had already apologized on my own with no prompting from the sidelines.

There are a number of areas where management and the union share common concerns. Safety and the company's reputation are just two examples. A respectful relationship between the two groups offers the best chance for mutually beneficial solutions. That should be everyone's goal.

Lots of NJ pilots know who I am. And some from Options...and Flex...and Avantair...and a few regional pilots...a corporate pilot or two...numerous wives....a flight attendant...a military pilot interested in NJ... If I missed anyone that sent a PM, it was an oversight. I do hope none of you were looking for MANAGEMENT, because if so, my replies must have been very confusing. ;) Netjetwife

Basically: Had consensual sex with a young girl in a stairwell in ATL while in uniform commuting to work on the company dime. Girl was of legal age according to the laws of GA. When they were caught after being reported to security, the girl cried rape. Pilot was arrested and fired from the company for being really stupid. Was jailed pending trial until the security tapes pretty much proved that the girl was a willing/enthusiastic participant. All charges dropped. Pilot didn't get his job back though.

So he did a dumb thing, not a criminal thing. Thanks for making that clear. Again, I am sorry that I didn't question the first post on the subject. I had taken it to mean the pilot was on his way to prison. I can understand that the company chose to fire a pilot who brought embarrassment to the company and so thoroughly confused his work time with his leisure time. Not smart! What a tough lesson to learn, though!

He was a Flight Options pilot, and someone at the time said he didn't know her age, though 16 is the age of consent in GA. She ought to be the one in prison for false accusation and false imprisonment.

She should be punished, yes. Sued for the legal expenses and time in jail, but not for getting him fired. That mistake was his.

I firmly believe that if people remain open-minded and truly seek fair solutions that they will discover common ground. That is why unions and management do have the ability to work together. It all depends on the people involved and the attitudes held by each.

Anyone that stupid deserves to lose their job.. I can't think of any millionaire that would want a guy driving their jet that uses that type of judgement. So in that area he got what he deserved. On the other hand, he'd be well within his rights (both legal or moral) to sue her for legal fees and jail time. Glad to hear he got out and sorry to think that her actions will most likely call in to question the accusations of other women who were truely assaulted. Unfortunately for true rape victims there are about as many false claims as there are legitimate ones.

Good point,H25b! That's a real concern.

UG, I don't expect that you will care, but just by way of explanation, these are critical times for many frac families. They need all the encouragement they can get. Pilots are in the process of standing up for themselves and I applaud their efforts. I'd also like the anti-union crowd to understand that productive solutions can be reached quicker when labor and management work together to solve problems. Let's just say that I have insider knowledge about that.

she ought to be sued for ruining this guy's career.

I think the guy that banged her pretty much sqeezed everything she had outta her. You could take her to civil court, but he wouldn't get anything.

So it was all caught on video by the security cams? im sure that video will find its way into the Internet Amateur videos one day,.......heheheh

Netwife, i wish i could geta wife like you someday! you seem so interested and understanding of your husband job, what a lucky guy!

From what I understand the actual "act" was not caught on camera. Just their flirting and PDA in the terminal prior to heading into the stairwell.

Didn't we elect a president that had "that type of judgement." Although the oval office and a cigar are a little different than the stair well in ATL.

The guy made a mistake but did nothing illegal in terms of the girls age. The age of sixteen is fair game in GA. Someone help this poor guy get a job. Most of us have been put in the position he was in, some made the right decision and some just didn't caught.

If I remember correctly the girl in question looked MUCH MUCH older than what she was. The previous poster got it pretty spot on, consensual sex in the stairwell and then she called rape. DA promptly dropped the charges when he viewed the tape and the witness reports.

Unfortunately, this guy has lost his job and his career. From what I was told he is finding it extremely difficult to find work in the industry and that it has pretty much finished his career in aviation.

Now before some of you people jump on the bandwagon and start extorting what bad judegement he used and how he deserved to get fired, think again.

We can all be boneheads at some time or another. Just think of the scenaro where a hot chick is coming on to you at the FBO whilst you were doing a turn to pick up frac passengers. What would you do if she offered up the goodies????

Or what if a pax decided they wanted you flat on your back in the back of a plane and they were drop dead gorgeous, sayplayboy bunnies in the back???.

The point i'm making is that us guys can make bonehead choices when our johnson is concerned. Don't simply sentence and hang a guy before the full story becomes known.

NetJetwife - your response is pretty normal for most people in this situation. Just imagine what this guy has faced from everyone else in aviation since this incident. By the way it was pretty good of you to apologise.

Cheers
P.S how many of us could tell the difference between a 19 year old college chick and a 16 year old girl...pretty hard these days and the older we get the harder it is.
