Since some of you can't carry pocket knives to work, what do you carry off duty? I am partial to Micro Tech's, I also like Cold Steel because they are so durable and d@mn sharp. Knives I don't like are Benchmade (crap blade, and yes I own several), and anything on HSN.

Benchmade mini AFCK is a very good knife. It's saved my life. It's survived falls, and cutting a variety of things, and when presented to Benchmade, they fixed or renewed it without comment. I'd buy their products again.

Leatherman Wave. A pilot without a leatherman is not a pilot.

Spyderco Cricket.

Victrinox Huntsman. Saved me, too.

Leatherman mini, not the orignal, not the wave, not the micro, sorry I don't know the exact model name.

Or, an old Case two blade penknife

I have an Army issue knife, in the door pocket of my old truck, I'm not sure of the maker. I found it in my wifes stuff, it had been her ex's military knife, being pragmatic, I reasoned that it wasn't the knifes fault that it belonged to a loser, so it became my truck knife. ]

None of them have saved my life, so Avbug continues to have a few up on me :-) However, I do feel naked without a blade somewhere on my person.

regards,
emigma

No wonder I can't get a job. I got my step-son one last Christmas and he broke it and then returned it for another item of equal or lesser value. It was not 'leatherman" brand though and that must be the curse that smiteh me, other than the fact that it wasn't 'mine.' Well....all my problems are solved now....off to Wal Mart.

I love my Benchmades and my Spyderco Military. Worst problem I've had with Benchmade is they don't float (I jumped into the lake to waterski with one in my pocket) Granted, If you try and use it as a prybar, the tip will snap, but I really don't think that is the knife's fault. Abuse of the tool doesn't make it faulty.

Craftsmanship of the Benchmade is first rate, they just don't seem to hold an edge worth a darn, the Micro's are alot better. I think the Cold Steel Carbon 5 blade is the best edge holder (it will rust easier though). If you're into the best auto's and semi's then Microtech is for you. My fave is the Ultra Tech auto.

From what I understand these are the knives the real pro's use, if you know what I mean.

At my second job (auto parts store) I carry a Gerber multi-tool on my hip. I totally lost without it. I use to keep it in my flight bag, but needed more at the second job.

My first job (aircraft parts sales) I have a standard victorinox. It's the first knife I have ever owned. Got it when I was 11 or 12.

When I was a front end mechanic I use to carry a Gerber Gator. 440 stainless sure was a hard blade to sharpen, but kept a good endge.

I have a Boy scout knife I got when I was about 9. Not real sharp anymore, it still has the emblem on it though.

That's funny.

I have a cheap $5.00 knife in my jeep & a leatherman in the flight bag. I've used the leatherman more times than I can count, but its never saved my life.

Glock 32. Colts are for OLD people. :D

I have had a spiderco delica for some years now. Broke the tip using it as a screwdriver, and now it has a perfect flathead for more convenient screwdriver usage. Also works great to open beer bottles.

Hey, I resemble that remark. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The best part about .45 ACP including Winchester Silver Tip, is when you shoot them into a stump and dig the bullets out, there is no mushrooming what so ever. Just wood packed into the hollow point.
