What is it like at Spirit Airlines?

What is it like to fly at Spirit Airlines? Specifically:

- Do most pilots at Spirit live in Base?
- Do you have commutable trips (3 day? 4 day?)?
- Do they fly day trips?
- Do most pilots at Spirit consider it a career or stepping stone?

Im just trying to figure out what airlines I can still have a goal of going to one day and being happy. If you have never flown for Spirit please do not provide any negative input. Thanks.

More importantly, what's the latest hiring rumors over there? It's been about 6 months since the last rumors of 6 months... Any updates?

I would not look for much in the way of hiring until 2007.

Do Spirit employees have free space available travel benefits?

Do Spirit employees ride for free in coach and business? (cost of upgrade to business?)

Also, are employees of Spirit eligible for ID90 type agreements with Legacy airlines?

Yes

Yes

Yes

With the industry the way it is I live in base (and grew up in the area) and figure I am hear till the end

Beetle007, you might want to try asking those questions over at:

http://www.airlinesforum.org/index.php

That site was originally a Spirit airlines only forum, but now is apparently open to anyone. It is not as sophisticated as FI, meaning that you'll have to register before you can read the forums, but as far as I know, they'll allow anyone.

Does spirit make flightcrews pay for their own beverages like Allegiant does?

Was that a joke?

There is a reason I don't visit this website much any more...idiots with idiotic things to say. I hope to god most of you are teenage wannabe's because it scares the be-jesus out of me from the things that people write here, that some of you may actually be entrusted to operate ANY airplane! If you want to be funny, I'm sure there are web-sites for comedians...go there. If you don't have anything USEFULL to contribute then STFU!!!

Since they have Airbusses now, do they get the same deal as JetBlue. You know where they don't have to make any payments on the ac for X number of years.
