If you pick up your phone your committed.. The other way scheduling can get you is if operations gets a hold of you either on the aircraft or sometimes at the gate waiting to catch your flight home..Has happened to me many a happy time!!

At PDT and some other companies, we sign in and out of duty on the computer. Crew scheduling will just leave a message for you on the computer.


"CA or FO xxxxxxxxx please call crew scheduling at check in/out."

As for the call to home, most of my co-workers won't answer their phone at home on a day off. Caller ID has been a blessing to help screen unwanted calls from crew scheduling. For many years at home we had a second phone line for fax and company calls.
