I don't usually post on this board...but it's "misinformed" individuals such as yourself that prompts me to do so. GoJet IS AN ALTER EGO CAMPANY. Let me put it this way...Trans States Airlines and their crewmembers have done all of the hard work necessary to expand. Under normal circumstances those aircraft would be flown under our banner. This means that our pilots would be able to bid for such equipment and positions when their seniority and experience would allow them to do so. Now...because of a technicality whit our American contract we cannot operate these aircraft as Trans States Airlines. OK fine, we understand that. So why can we not have one list? This allows pilots to move over to a higher paying equipment (not back) at their leisure. After all, at Trans States the minimum hours to upgrade to captain on the ERJ is 4000 hours. I don't think Go Jet will be any different or more lenient for that matter. So what happens to the 3000 hour captain on the J-41 here? He may not have the time right now to upgrade on the CRJ, or the ERJ for that matter. But what happens in a year when he does...is his window of opportunity gone. Why does he want to go right now and be an FO again at Go Jet? Oh...but he gets to keep 5 years (that's it) of his seniority...not his pay rate...just the 5 years to go and get his/her FO pay again. Let's be honest...I'm sure some people want to go, either to get off reserve, get off a prop, or just think that it's a good deal. Well, maybe to they guy on the street it is, or some from another company...but for the people at TSA, IT SUCKS.
By the way...they are not represented by Teamsters...they are in talks with them...oh, who is they by the way. It's those in the first class of individuals...and who might that be...current TSA management personnel. Not to mention, even if they did ink a deal with teamsters...ask any TSA pilot how the company treats and abides by our current CBA...yeah, have fun with that one.
To be honest, the crews at TSA I don't think want much. I can only speak for myself, but I would like to have only a few things:
1) One list for all pilots
2) Carry all longevity and seniority when moving over
3) Decent pay. Not industry leading necessarily, but fair
4) Use our current contract
I don't think that is too much to ask for. There may be some other minor items...but those I believe are the major ones.
I can't fault those that need to provide for their families and need a job...but there are other options, i.e. Chautauqua, Pinnacle, Comair, Skywest, etc that are hiring. I hope people think twice about this, at least until things are figured out on both sides. It's kind of hard to talk about it as well when our management refuses to do so with our union. Furthermore...it also makes it a little bit harder when they are firing our union members...intersting time to be doing that as well. GoJet and upcomming contract negotiations?
