I don't want to flame. So if you want to be a loyal foot soldier, please do not reply.

My intent is that they have not communicated a plan, with goals and measurements to stop the whipsaw, and the erosion of the profession. Is this not their reason for being?

If they have, and I missed it, let me know. My observation is that management is not afraid of ALPA, as they feel the group doesn't have the courage (read balls) for random work stoppages. I understand that it is illegal, but management has not been legal and ethical, and all we do is run to the goverment and claim they are not "fighting fair".

The only card we have left is to stop being pushed around. Comair would be a good starting point. Sickouts until the planes are transfered back by ASA, Delta, and Comair. 25% of pilots call in once a week until the 70's are returned. The publicity and lost revenue would force management quickly to:

1. Try and get an injuction
2. To calm the public
3. To Give the planes back
4. STOP THE WHIPSAW. IF THEY SEE WE ARE UNITED, WE ALL WIN. DIVIDED WE ALL LOSE!!!!!

If we don't do this, we deserve the ******************** we are getting, because we refuse to do something to stop it (fight).

Duane Woerthless has allowed ALPA to be brought to it's knees. The race to the bottom is never ending as Mesaba agreed to that substandard agreement. ALPA has pitted APLA carrier against ALPA carrier trying to to deep paycuts for growth. i.e. Mesa, TSA to grow and push ACA and AWAC out the doors at UAL. Then there was TWA and Mid Atlantic getting screwed by ALPA in takeovers. By signing off on the concessionary agreements for growth, these carriers have shown no guts or b*lls. whatsoever. Instead, deep down they didn't care about others at the other carriers.
Unfortunately, Mesaba, first year pay is below poverty level. But the day the start hiring off the street again, they will get flooded with resumes for those who want to work there. For each resignation, there are another 10 who want that vacant position and would be willing to do it for less.
Remember the 90's? Pay for training? How did that go away? People finally said enough is enough and refused to pay for training and eventually it went away arounds 1998 or 1999. What we need is for all pilots, ALPA and Teamsters to finally say enough is enough. But then you have the banes of the industry, the non union carriers whose workforce has no say or bargaining power, and the company can instill pay rates and work rules and their discretion.
 
We need one pay rate for one airplane.

If you fly for Skywest, PSA, TSA, Chautauqua, Comair... and fly a 50 seat airplane then this is the rate $.........
If you fly a 737 then this is the rate $.......
Alpa need to establish a pay rate for each airplane nationwide. At this point the profits would be in dependent on how management performs. Our union needs to set the standard for pay and QOL, nationwide.

Unity is the Key

You don't need a stupid ALPA pin to show your pilot group's unity. It's a self defeating purpose to have ALPA represent your carrier when they also represent "the Best Interest" of 10 other carriers. Boot ALPA and internally elect a group of volunteer pilots each year to represent your pilot group for negotiations with management. Problem solved.
