I know that I am jumping the gun a bit, but we need to dream to live, right. I would like some advice on what Hawaiian looks for in a new hire (time wise, letters of rec etc.) I know Hawaiian will pull out of bankruptcy in due time. Flying for Hawaiian is a goal I have since I was a little keiki, any advice out there would be helpful. thankyou.

I would guess that when HA does hire, they will look for pretty much the same things as other airlines with perhaps more weight placed on letter of rec from company pilots.

For now I would concentrate on building time and getting some turbine PIC, and making some friends.

I heard having an address in HI is important.

Nope, a local address isn't necessary (I'm proof of that). LOR's go a long way however. Also, if you can, visit the CP's office and drop off your resume. Excellent excuse for a vacation too. As for minimums, I think they were as low as 1200TT, 500multi. But that will probably change when they do hire since the junior position is 767 FO. Crazy huh??

Hey Hansoma... congrats on the recall bro! How many of yas? Hope you guys get everyone back and hire more so Broke can hopefully get in..

Broke... I came from Island Air to Aloha, but I hear it's the same at Hawaiian... internal LOR's go a LOOOOOOONG way. I know at Aloha, it's pretty much impossible to get hired without an internal recommendation.

Official Mins:
1500TT or 1000 turbine PIC
300 Multi

LOR's definitely help; I got two from senior captains. However I've spent some time talking with guys who were on the hiring board that interviewed me. What they are looking for besides the standard technical knowledge and flying ability is a good attitude! They want to know that if they spend a week on the road with you that you won't drive them nuts. They're looking for someone calm, easygoing, flexible, etc. That is the majority of the interview process.

Freight Dog, unfortunately Hansoma didn't get recalled (he is about 50 below me). He got an offer at another airline, the rat-bast@rd!

Where ya going Hansoma and congrats on the job!!

Hey Doggie-

Hansoma is going to a company that used to fly 747's out here way back when...they just took down their sign a couple years ago in HNL. Based in PHX I believe...how's the -700 treatin' ya?
