Flight time?

Do you think I will get an application/interview with:

4200 TT
3010 Turbine
1120 PIC Turbine
2700 121

Thanks

Cathay Just called me 5 minutes ago for an interview that I declined. They are still in recruiting mode for everyone else with an application on file.

Good luck

I got hired at a better place. Cathay has its share of moaning. I would run into their guys from time to time around the world and they didn't seem too happy. The US based freight operation seems like a good gig, but does't pay much for a 747 driver. For those who make it to the second interview take a good tour of Hong Kong and make sure you could adapt to living there.
Good Luck

Most that will be interviewed and accepted for the US based freight operation (First Officer), will be required to have medium jet time (Airbus, Boeing) or larger, unless ex-military. Though the interview is for a US based position, you will be asked about your feeling towards living in Hong Kong. If you show any negativity, you will not be accepted.

Good luck to all who interview.

Cathay Pay??

Someone mentioned that their F/O pay on the 747 isn't that great.

What are their pay scales? I've never seen anything about them.

I heard that Virgin had the lowest paid 747 pilots in the business.

I have a friend who flys the -400 out of LAX as an F/O. He makes around 130K per year...but then again he's been there since 1995. He had a chance to upgrade to freighter captain but declined it since it was the same money. He's holding out for the left seat back in HKG.

As of currently, US based Freight FO's start in the 55-65 thousand range. Max pay for a US based Freight FO is 90-95 thousand. Command starts at 105-110 thousand, and max being around 135-145 thousand for a 10 plus year commander.

I hope this answers some questions.

Please keep in mind these are passed on averages, not exact as different time periods give different pay scales.

For comparison of the above scales...

HK based SO's make over 80K first year...if you include the base pay PLUS the housing stipend/allowance they give you for living in HK. That number is before benefits and "per diem"(or whatever they call their away pay). Exact numbers i got were 389,000HKD base plus 21,000 housing allowance, then add in benefits (medical is paid 100% by company), retirement (they pay 15% whether you contribute or not), and then their away pay. One story i heard said that for a two day trip to LAX from HK the crew received ~190 cash each when they showed up to the hotel to check in for their layover...they don't call it per diem though, something else. Altogether the number that was quoted to me was approximately 730,000HKD your first year after everything...now how accurate that final total is i do not know, but it was from a current CX pilot. Oh yeah, the current exchange rate hovers right at 7.8 HKD to 1 USD...my total for that amount comes to 93.5K+ a dollar or two.

So compare that to the freighter side, and you can see they pay much better if you fly the pax, and i am sure living in HK can't be too bad...I know my wife and i have been discussing it recently, and we think it would be exciting.

To the best of my knowledge this info is correct and from a credible source in the company...if i am wrong maybe someone else can chime in and correct me.

Oh yeah, one last thing...the above rates are for HK ONLY...if you live anywhere else, you do not receive the allowance, and the pay decreases dramatically.

Cathay

What is the story about the black list on them, are they off it now. What EXACTLY was it for anyway, what were they taking the cruise pilots with?
