I have come to notice the almost unanimous hatred for Riddle grads here. Since I go at night at Randolph AFB does that count or is there still a chance to salvage my soul?

I am a 1988 Riddle grad and if your a normal, descent guy, you'll have no problems. But, just like CaptainMark says, if you fall into the stereotypical cocky bastard with the Ray Bans and the leather jacket and think you know it all, then you get what you deserve.

How to spot the riddle-rocket:

Look for the guy that while already at the END of a 10,000+ foot runway, (in an RJ) either still makes a MD-80 90 degree turn, or worse, back taxis four feet to get an extra inch or two for the roll out.

Look for the guy that ALWAYS has his/her taxi light on when he is moving, even if he is knowingly and needlessly blinding everyone on the ramp, including the other aircraft.

Listen for the guy/gal on the radio that sounds like they just had a 2 x 4 forcefully shoved up their anus.

You know you're flying with an ERAU grad when.....

1. He/she proudly tells you about his website where there are photos of them in G-suits flying C-172s, or wearing "Embry-Riddle Drinking Team" t-shirts, or has endless photos of hot women he's supposedly been with cause he's a pilot.

2. He/she proceeds to tell you that you can't land a swept wing jet in a heavy crosswind using any rudder.

3. He/she carries a backpack in the airport that says "Embry Riddle Aeronautical University" on it and thinks it's cool.

4. In ground school, he's the guy who always asks a question that takes 30-min to answer with 5 min left in the day.

5. He wears his leather jacket when it's 85 degrees outside.

6. He has more than 1 ERAU sticker on his flight case (only 1 is acceptable from any school)

7. He never buys drinks on overnights cause his daddy always pays for everything.

8. He opens his flight case, wallet, or coat pocket and condoms fall out. All the condoms are at least 5 years old.

9. He drinks 20 gallons of water on every four-day cause "he works out" and needs to hydrate, and eats tuna in the cockpit every leg.

10 He loses his temper at the hotel van driver cause he knows a better way to the hotel and the ride is taking too long on your 18-hr overnight.

Right . . . . so if you don't turn off your light you obviously give away which school you went to. You must also think all blondes are stupid and all blacks ought to be slaves. Having been an FO for 2 1/2 years, I have never once told any CA where I went to school unless they beat it out of me - and if they get along with you I don't think they really care.

The funny thing about the extended campus location where I go to is that it is NOT hard! The standing motto among the military guys there is "pay your fee; get your B".

The truly sad thing is that some people actually care whether or not others think you either are, or are not, cool because of where you went to school. It doesn't take a bumper sticker on a person's flight bag to know if he or she is a tool. A day or two flying together should be all a person needs to tell for certain. I agree that the guys with the ERAU backpacks look pretty lame. So what? If you're a loser, the people who fly with you will know it.

I don't know if it was Carmichaels, but there was a new bar in Port Orange that took an ad out in the avion for 10 wings and a pitcher of beer for $1.00.
