If you haven't already placed your order, I might suggest ordering a set of the medium ones too. The smalls aren't large enough to hold a number of pilot shirts.

Just for a frame of reference, I was able to fit 6 XL folded Tshirts into 1 of the small cubes.

Tale of woe

I always carry on both my suitcase and my flight bag. However, once I was the last person boarded and when I got to the plane, the overheads were full and was forced to gate check. I started to retrieve my laptop out of my suitcase, but the gate agent was insistent that they needed an on-time departure and asked me to give my bag to the waiting ramper.

BIG MISTAKE!!!

When I got home, the laptop and power supply were gone. Nothing else was taken. The airline refused to even discuss the theft with me since baggage policy clearly states they are not responsible for ANY electronic equipment.

I realize now, the gate agent and ramp rat could have been in cahoots. The airline was not interested in the smallest way in finding out who stole the items since they had no financial responsiblity.

If you are forced to check your bag, take whatever time you need to take ALL electronic items out of your bag. They may be stolen and you will not be compensated.

I would like to add that you can get additional insurance from your renters/homeowners policy, it's very cheap, but has a deductable. For my mac, it was $100 at home / $250 on the road, and the only thing that isn't covered is insect damage (???) If a hotel van destroys the laptop by dropping your bag, or stolen by the airline, should be no problem to claim.

Now you tell me!:0

The funny thing is that the girl working at the insurance company didn't even know about they offered the coverage herself, she had to check with her supervisor to find out they offered it.

Coming home from last rotation, I stayed in uniform to get my liquids through security. I gave a wave to the guy on the monitor so he saw I was flight crew. His response as the bag went through, "You know, I think flight crews have a one bottle limit." (I had a red and a white from the leftovers!)

Tried the same thing at HPN - had to go back and check the bag.

I just bought the 26" PNS bag and the laptop bag from Luggage Works (the one they sell at Charlie's locker). I guess we'll see when I start IOE next week if the 26 incher will "fly" or not.

This is to all of you fractional pilots out there. I know you pack a suitcase--some stick to the "carry-on" size, and others I have been told bump up to a bigger suitcase and seem to get away with it (without checking it in).

But what about your second, smaller carry-on bag??? How big/small is it? Do any of you have any problems with airlines out there telling you that you need to check at least one of your bags in, or are they pretty good about it? Would like to get a good idea of what I can get away with.

If you work for a decent Fractional company or corporate job, you can leave behind the shampoo, soap and lotion.
Being a gentleman who cares about my grooming, I can say that a standard purdy-neat bad and book- bag will take care of your travel needs.

Flight crew to TSA is a 121 crew-member. Don't forget that. You might slip through the cracks but be prepared to check a bag or lose the grooming products.
