Kinda wondering who among us here carries a laptop while on the road? Who carries anything else, camera, video recorder, and a hobby of some sort… cement mixer?

I’ve got a small trip kit I carry, just a cheap laptop for internet surfing while cooped up in the Hotac or killing time in the FBO, email to the wife etc.

Anyone carry anything odd or unusual around?

Flew with a pilot who hauled around a huge bag of cross-stitching on trips, not too odd, but it was a guy. Guess it takes all types and in his defense some of his work was quite beautiful.

The usual stuff

Porn, condoms, ski mask, flashlight, NASA ASRS forms, pint of Jim Beam, bail money, fake hollywood producer business cards, and a handheld radio.

I always carry swimwear, sunscreen, and a baseball hat. If it's a place I've already been, I'll check my notes before leaving for a reminder about good restaurants, activities, etc.

I'm not a big photographer, but our chief pilot rarely leaves base without his camera in tow. I know a lot of guys who carry laptops (I'm too cheap to buy one!).

Laptop if more than two nights, digital camera is nice to have handy, and, very important ... i got myself a second charger from the cellphone.
I sometime carry the notices and books that you never have time to read when you are at home.

THATS where my Layover kit went!!!!!!!!

I've been looking for it for months! Flydog I want that back! (uh... you can keep the condoms....)

I never leave the house without my Walkman and a bunch of music. I too don't have a laptop as of yet..Waiting for them to get under $500.00. *LOL*

Gotta take the sticks, there are a lot of golf deals set up through the FBOs. OK, so it does not work all that well during the cold months, just need to suggest trips to Cabo and Palm Springs ! Free golf in PSP a few times. Just missed the beer cart when the boss called saying he wanted to leave early, like a day early. Whew ! Lesson learned, iced tea works almost as well.

I do a lot of reading too, anyone read the latest Nelson Demile " Up Country" ? Great book ! He also wrote the "Charm School" College student stumbles into an American in captivity in Russia, present day, but is chased away and then hunted before he can find out what it was all about. Turns out the Ruskies have taken some American aviators from Viet Nam and are using them, NO MORE DETAILS. Great book ! Nelson wrote "The Lion's Game" quite interesting after 9/11, not a direct relation but a lot of parallels, it was wrote long before the terrorists hit. Of course all of Tom Clancy's books are a must, way better than the movies ! I first read "Hunt for Red October" while still in the Navy on the P-3, very accurate. Everything I know about the law comes from John Grisham, well almost. Always a good read.

I do not carry a lap top however many of the nicer hotels have business centers that have internet access. One of my copilots was always getting these rediculous phone charges on his room bill for using his computer. :)

I also flew with a guy that brought his guitar all of the time, of course I asked for a room that was farther away than normal !

Hey, what ever floats your boat I guess ! Have a good one !
