I think the prolification of jets and expansion at the regionals has fueled this paranoia.
Sorry - - I don't mean to pick on you, but this is a bit humorous.

prolification:

n.1.

1.The generation of young.

2.(Bot.) Reproduction by the growth of a plant, or part of a plant, directly from an older one, or by gemmæ.

I didn't realize jets could DO that ! ! ! :)

(Did you mean proliferation? :) )

Hahahaha...thats funny! :) Made my freaking evening!

Cockpits do get dusty, and there is no telling what type of insect could fly onto the lens when the aircraft is powered down. :-)
Would it be too much of a stretch to cement a polaroid of two pilots sitting in their seats onto the camera lense?
I could see the accident report if something were to go wrong.... "We're not sure what happened but the pilots were ridgidly attentative and unwaivering to what was going on!"

I thought that cameras in the cockpit idea would be a complete waste of money to our already, self admitted cash strapped employers. However, I thought of a good use for them, at least at Mesaba Aviation.

After giving a new hire 90+ hours of IOE and the student still not having any clue as to how to fly an airplane, the 90 hours of video would save the company a ton of cash in court during the lawsuit for wrongful termination and sexual discrimination when played for the judge.
