I would put $50 down and bet the 12 "Gateways" had a hand in designating themselves as such. Another $50 that there is only one FBO on the field at these Gateways; and A hot 'nother $50 the ramp and landing fees for this 'privilage' are well over $100 total.

100-1/2

I know that my boss is going to want go to DC, he has told me he is tired of the drive, the taxi & departure delays. I just need to figure out if any of his security folks will qualify as the LEO.

I saw an interview on either CNN or MSNBC last night with some "official" from the TSA. He kept throwing the term "Federal Air Marshal" around, instead of LEO. A buddy of mine that is a FAM today said that they've heard conflicting stories on whether it will be FAMs or not. I think it's one of the things they have yet to decide. In any case, the regs are completely stupid, and I hope my company says screw DCA.

I've seen the list of gateways, and I'd say at least half of them have numerous FBO's....but I bet the FBO that can be used will be specified by the TSA.

I'm sure if you look at the list of people that were involved in this whole BS program you will see that they are from these gateway areas.

I bet 100 dollars Mayor Daley from Chicago had something to do with this.

LOL

List of gateway airports

According to TSA’s plan, GA operators may only fly into DCA from twelve “Gateway” airports. The Gateway airports are: Seattle-Tacoma, Wash.; Boston Logan; Houston Hobby; White Plains, N.Y.; LaGuardia, New York; Chicago Midway; Minneapolis/St.Paul, Minn.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; San Francisco, Calif.; Teterboro Airport, N.J.; Philadelphia, Pa.; and Lexington, Ky. Each of the Gateway airports, with the exception of Teterboro, has a TSA presence and is equipped with TSA screeners. Teterboro Airport will use screeners from Newark Airport, N.J.
