You are all frigin geeks. wow this is the most pathetic thread ever. Denverdude you are truly a douche. you should all print this thread out. when you have 1500 hours you can look back on it and vomit thinking what a idiot you looked like arguing which is better cessna or piper.

I was 15 when I started learning to fly...in a 152. I remember it as clearly as yesterday (or clearer?) and it was the thrill of a lifetime. If you're not happy with a certain plane because it's not cool enough then you are merely infatuated with the novelty factor and should take up something else instead.

I think you should stick with the 152. It is a harder airplane to master than any Cherokee and it'll make you a better pilot.

Before anyone gets into an argument with me on this one, just think about how much attention you need to pay to the rudder in a Cessna as compared to the Cherokee... In a Warrior (or an Archer, or a Cruiser, etc.) you can even get away with not using the rudder for many operations. Trust me, I did a pre-solo prog check on a guy who had his feet flat on the floor (not touching the rudder pedals at ALL) for a good amount of the time. I guess he thought you only needed it for takeoff and for maneuvers! You could never get away with that in a Cessna.

And how about taxiing? Back when I was doing my initial training, my instructor wouldn't let me do any differential braking except when necessary, and that was very challenging in the 152. The Pipers are comically easy by comparison.

I imagine there's someone reading this who'll come up with the "oh, so people who get their training in Pipers aren't good pilots, huh?" argument, but if you read my post that way, you're missing the point. I'm just trying to tell this kid to keep it up with the 152... It may not look as cool, but you'll learn some things in that airplane that you won't in that Warrior.

Not to mention the 152 should be cheaper than any Piper. :)

Good luck!
