Anybody out there have any info on Wal-Mart flight department? I have the address and stuff. But I was wondering if anyone knew any inside scoop.

Thanks and Happy New Year

I was at NBAA and talked with a female captain on the Lear. She loves flying for them and says she is gone in the am and back in the pm. Small knit pilot group, right around 70 pilots. She was hired at 1000 hours and upgraded to captain on the Lear within a year. PM me if you need an email for this captain.

Within the last year ProPilot did an article on Wal Mart. A lot of good info about the department in there.

Sorry I don't have the exact issue date. You might find it online though.

Good Luck!

Do some research in this company. Talk to as many pilots as you can and ask what the turn-over rate is. I have talked to several of their pilots and got the impression that it's not a good place to work. Low pilot morale, low pay and even double up crew's in one room for RON's. This was 4 years ago and things may have changed ( hopefully ) but I just want to make sure you get both sides. Some of their senior pilot's make absurd amounts of money because their of their stock options, but there are only a few of these pilot's. I realize this was a few years ago but a little leg work on your part may be worth it. Good Luck

THE NEW WALMART

I HAVE A GOOD FRIEND WHO WORKS FOR WALMART. ALL THE OLD STORIES ABOUT WM ARE N/A ANYMORE. THEY REALIZED A FEW YEARS BACK THAT THEY HAD TO TREAT THEIR PEOPLE RIGHT OR THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP THEM. FROM EVERYTHING I HEAR, IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO WORK. NW ARKANSAS IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE ALSO.

I'm the lady pilot that was refered to in the next post....ask me and I will do my best to give you an honest answer. The only thing I can say upfront is that unless you here it from one of us or someone who has talked to us in the past year ..DON'T believe it. Everything has changed for the better!!!

Rebajetgirl,
How does one go about applying for a corporate pilot position with Wal-Mart? I couldn't find anything on the corporate webpage. I understand you fly Lears? Thanks for any info.

Applying to Walmart!

Here is the info you requested:

Wal-Mart Aviation
Attn. Bob Lake, Domestic Chief Pilot
Hanger #5 Hammerschmidt Dr.
Rogers, AR 72756

Fax: 501-621-2450

You may also be able to get info by calling 501-273-4596, and there is a recorded message there.

SOP minimums are 1000 TT 100ME, but I have been told they have been uped to 2000TT 500ME to be competitive.

Hope this helps, it's a great place to work!!

PS. Also look in the December 2000 Pro Pilot Magazine for an article on us!!

Hi there,

Anybody know of Wal-Mart Aviation web. site address???
If so, would you please post it.

Best regards.

I far as I know there is no public Wal-Mart Aviation web site....We do have a private one that is accessed only by crew members!! Occasionally the Walmart.com website under "company info" will have job postings for the aviation department!

I'm glad to hear that Walmart's flight department improved from years past. I hope you didn't consider my comments an attack on your company, I was just trying to show all sides , and I did say it was dated info. Happy Flying to all those out of Rogers.

Hey rebajetgirl,

I am looking for more info about Wal-Mart Aviation, such as :

- Are they looking for pilots at this time?
- Pay scale for CPT's and FO' (approx.)
- Approx. upgrade time to CPT.
- Bases (if any)
- Equipment you guys/gals fly.
- Schedule, etc.

Thank you very much.

CFINY

Let us see if I can answer any of your questions.

- We haven't heard if we will be doing any hiring in the near future but my guess is we will.

- The starting pay for FO is 40,000 per year.

- The starting pay for CPT is 65,000 per year.

- The upgrade time is unknown. Anywhere from 18 mo to 4 years.
Most likely somewhere in the middle

- The entire fleet consists of Learjet 35, 31 and 31A's.

- All pilots live and fly out of Rogers, AR. (ROG)

- The schedule is the best part. Most fly 4 to 5 days a week with 4 RON's average per month. We are home for a majority of the nights.

Hope this helps.

passion4flying,

Thanx very much for the answers.

I have few more questions for you (sorry!).

- What are the flight time minimums for FO position (TT/Multi) ?
- It is possible to commute to work ( I live in NYC) ?
- How is the interview process / training?
- What destinations you guys fly to? (domestic & international).

I guess that's it for now...

Best regards.

CFINY.

I interviewed with WalMart back in Feb and was offered the job. I was not able to accept the job offer due to some family things that where more important than any job can offer. However I was very impressed with the whole WalMart staff and department. I spoke with several WalMart pilots during the interview and they all loved their jobs and the work rules where very good. It seemed that the management was making every effort to make it a good place to work and keep everyone happy. I really wish that I good had taken the offer. Read the ProPilot article, it decribes things there very well.

I think that I would have made it a last stop in my aviation career. If you have the opportunity to interview or are offered the job I would take it in a heart beat.
