Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone on this board has any info about the interview there.

Funny story by the way: I was at Wal Mart getting some keys made when Sandy from HR called and offered me an interview today. Long story short, I thought it was a candid camera episode because I had put my resume in a while ago. She got a few chuckles out of it, then got serious. She told me that there will be a phone interview next week with her and 6 pilots in the room on speaker phone. It will be split half and half with technical questions and HR stuff. If I pass that, I will be offered a second interview in Rogers.

Any help is mucho appreciado!!!!!

Had the phone interview a few months ago.....basic HR and IFR stuff. Know the history of the company. (I made that lethal mistake) Do a search in this forum, the subject has been beaten to death.

I got the call today.

I'm just concerned about the pay. I have read alot of negative posts on the pay.

Everything else appears pretty good to me. If anyone can give me a figure, I would be greatful. I have a friend in mgmt. there, and he said it ranges from 35-65k/yr.

Anyone want to narrow it down a little?

Also what specific questions can we expect to get on the phone interview?

Okay here are the specifics.

Everyone starts @ 43k base + stock options + yearly "performance based" bonus.

I saw it averaging around 55k first year if you're lucky.

The pay is non-negotiable

Upgrades are slow (possibly stagnant) and based "somewhat" on performance.

It hurt...but I had to turn the interview down. They seem to be a good corporate outfit and if they ever increase the pay I will definately consider it again.

They are looking for 3 F/O's and have over 4000 resumes. They have narrowed it down to 25.

The pay being non-negotiable seems to be portrayed as a negative...?...?

I believe they have something on the order of 70-80 pilots. How on Earth given that unique scale could they possibly make pay negotiable?

What a mess that would be!!!

Seems like keeping the pay non-negotiable is a measure to protect the pilots already on the roster from getting screwed.

Having a negotiable pay structure is great as long as EVERYONE keeps their mouth shut about what they are making. But as soon as ONE GUY/GAL spills the beans all hell breaks loose...

Adding Lear 45s?

Anyone know the fleet plan for Wal-Mart for the smaller jets? I know that it operates something like 30 Lear 31s and Lear 35s but I hear that Lear 45XRs might be on the way... Anyone know what will stay (probably the 31s) and what will be added (how many Lear 45s planned)?
 
We already have 2 Learjet 45's, just sold a 35. Looks like 45's are arriving at a rate of around 2 per year, guessing that would continue. Nothing in stone. It's not unlike anywhere else, when the plane actually arrives on the ramp is when you know for sure.

The 45's that we've gotten so far have been pre-owned models that will be modified to the "XR" via software upgrade/flight manual supplement. I believe everything in the fleet has RVSM req's so there's no huge hurry on the fleet plan due to domestic RVSM.

Do you guys (WalMart) have set tail numbers or are they a mix of everything. Last week I heard a couple of lears taking off from somewhere. The controller asked the first one what his speed was going to be. He said a speed and then told the controller that he could slow the guy behind him down, also a lear. I am just wondering if it was a couple of your lears and they were just playing.
 
What factors occur that make the company decide to purchase a new airplane and hire to staff it? Obviously they run a lean company, just curious how they decide that it is time to grow (or to shrink) the flight department.

Also, I've never been through a 3-day interview process. (sounds intimidating though!) How do you dress for 3 days of interviews? Thanks
