Stay in light jets as a typed SIC and wait another 6 months for a PIC position, or move to a medium jet typed SIC position and wait a year for a PIC slot there? The only downside is a one year seat lock in the medium, so even if a light jet PIC slot comes open, I am stuck.
Simple, go with the more stable company and where the pay scale is better.
I would ride the right seat in the Medium and wait the 1 year to make captain. If you stay with the light jets for 6 months and make captain, you will be there for at least a few years building PIC time before another company may hire you as a straight in PIC on a medium.
Remember also that a lot of flight departments do have seniority, and therefore without previous medium or heavier experience, most companies will only hire a previous light category PIC as an SIC, and will upgrade to captain within a year.
