There were a rash of inflight passenger problems on various Northwest Airline flights in past few days.

One incident was on NWA FLT 924 from HNL - SEA where an ex-con `on parole' attempted to forcibly enter the cockpit. Also, on another flight arriving in MSP a belligerent woman got into an altercation with this flight's sky marshall. He was kicked in groin before the woman was subdued. In the final incident, a man made an attempt to enter the cockpit of NWA FLT 923 from DET - HNL. Details are on these links:

A QUESTION FOR ALL YOU AIRLINE PILOT VETS OUT THERE; what are your company policies on handling these kind of wacco passengers? Is it often that you run across these `type A' bastards aboard your flights? I can imagine that this may not be a rare event with so many different people in the cabins of your flights.

Would you share some of your experiences with these creeps? Being a corporate pilot I just occasionally but very rarely have a premadonna control freak passenger aboard my little domain. These few have been somewhat easy to calm down tactfully.

Thanks,
Tweek

It's the holidays, these times generally bring out all the strangest misfortunes. We shouldn't discuss airline security policy on this open forum, however, most of these incidents are dealt with common sense resolutions.

Thanks Red!

There definitely seems to be an unsual amount of these incidents lately. You're on the mark diagnosing the problems people have this time of year. Let's hope these incidents quiet down soon before someone gets hurt.

Another friend of mine, who is a sheriff, had mentioned the extra danger they face during the Holidays. Calming the offender is usually the best method he claims but even that can be quite dangerous since they are usually irrational, and neurotic and perhaps drugged.

I'm concerned that you airline vets may be having these problems on your flights a little too often. Or perhaps, it's just being `overblown' in the press.

Thanks again Red,

Tweek
