I heard - and you can correct me if I am wrong - the reason they did not cut flight attendants' pay is that 1) they are making less than us now and 2) we have an oversupply of pilots while it is already difficult enough to keep F/A's.

You forgot number 3) Flight attendants dont care if they lose their job and most pilots are easier to scare due to their love and amount invested.
