Anybody know a thing about Vision Airlines? They had a job posting on climbto350 about 1300hr captains, I believe in the Twin Otter.

Shady Grand Canyon airline that Scenic bought out or merged.
I think they require backpacks in their uniforms.

Gettin' desperate on reserve?

desperate.... i wanna be a ho... flew 8 hrs in jan, flew 1 time in feb... kinda sucks... got an offer for a pinnacle interview for friday, only thing is i am on reserve on friday.. class date of monday if i make it..

Vision is not hiring into Otters...at least last I heard...they may be hiring into Dornier 228s though. They dont have Otters...Scenic does...and the two have not merged in any way. Scenic is quite a bit larger than Vision. Scenic = 121, Vision = 135.

They work those guys like dogs, but great time builder...especially PIC turbine if you can get into the left seat. Some good people over there as well.

They did have a pft $6500 for some FO time for awhile...dont know if they still do that.

I don't know a whole lot about Vision. However, what I do know is that they are getting into the Dornier 328 business real soon. Their CP became qual'd a while ago; and they want to take delivery of at least two of the four 328's they intend to operate ASAP.

I worked at Vision for about a year and know that they did not merge with scenic and they fly 6 228's and are getting 328's. The owner is also the CP and the director of Ops and if he likes you it is a great place to work. I enjoyed it for the year I was there. You will build lots and lots of flight time and do some awesome flying but it does get old after awhile. They also have some other jets that they charter including a 737 and I believe a falcon. One of the guys I worked with is now on the 737. They do have a PFT program but if they don't have someone that is willing to pay, they will hire outside of the program. Anyone with Canyon experience, especially an SFAR checkout, has a huge advantage over anyone else. If you don't have the mins for a 121 gig, go to Vision if you can it's a great place to build time and experience.

They were also looking for first officers and only ask for 500 tt!

Saw it on climbto350 also.

Anyone know what the pay is for FO's.

I'm assuming it's a paid position.

I'm thinking its still at PFT program, in which you pay for your training, then in return, receive a measley small salary. I don't fly there, but have met a few of their pilots at VGT and have spoken with them. Some of their pilots work line service for additional pay on the days they don't fly.

That's crazy!! WHy are they flying you so little? Is it worth leaving there to start again??? and at Pinnacle??

well basically just did the interview just to see what they had to offer, etc... yea 8 hours and jan and still only once in feb... sit at my crashpad for 6 days in a row... sucks...

From an alumni mailing--

Vision Aviation-
Spooling up again for the summer with the addition of 3-4
Dornier 328's, one more 228, and J32 ops, I need a handfull
of soon-to-be captains and possibly a few program F.O.'s. We
would like to start interviewing in early March for a late
March groundshool.

For Captains:
1 year contract at initial hire (F.O.)
18 month contract at Upgrade.
I am specifically looking for M.E. Commercial pilots who have
at a minimum 1300 hours with the ATP written completed.
Ideally, pilots with ATP certificates would be preferred.
Upgrade could be as early as one month of service with us!
There's about 7-8 need-them-now type of openings for the 228
/ Jetstream 32 Captain slots as we will be moving a few of
our existing 228 Captains into the 328 program.

F.O. program $7,500-
Minimum MultiEngine Commercial certificate with instrument
rating
< 1000 hours. Guarantee of 250 hours SIC in either the J32
or the 228 as placed

1 year contract pilots-
>1000 M.E. Commercial with Instrument
Full time First Officer with upgrade possibilities as soon as
ATP requirements are met.

Competitive pay for all slots

Sounds like if you've got over 1000TT you don't pay, but they'll hire with real low time if you wanna fork out the $$.

Personally, if you live in base you can't beat not flying on reserve. Pursue other "avenues" at the same time for more $$...

If you do a search for them in the 135 charter section, you will find plenty of information.
