I wonder what kind of aircraft Virgin USA is going to use? If they are going to start from scratch they need to start traininging the pilot pretty soon for a mid 2004 launch date, lots of rumors of Virgin USA going for the 737NG

Virgin execs have made several visits to both Boeing and Airbus which leads one to speculate the A320 or B737NG.

However, the only Virgin enterprise to use the Bus so far is Virgin Atlantic - A340s and soon the A380 mega-giant. Everywhere else it's the 737NG - Virgin Express, Virgin Blue, Virgin Pacific Blue. So the Boeing product has chosen to be the equipment of choice if you go by these selections. However.....as we all know (or should), in this business anything is possible.

WRT initial hub/HQ, it makes sense to have a place that is already served by their trans-Atlantic flights. I may be wrong but I did not think PHL was one of them. Another idea banded around is that they will have one east coast and another west coast. One city not previously mentioned (@ least not in the US media), is Las Vegas. And yes, Virgin has several weekly flights into LAS from LGW and the cost of living is relatively low. Besides, the whole thing is a bit of a gamble anyway...... !!!

Watch out, I have heard that Ornstien has his hands in the Virgin USA pot. He and Branson are old buddies (Ornstien ran Virgin Express), from his past experience with Mesa and Freedumb, Virgin USA wont be a bed of roses if J.O. is involved. Ask your friends who slave for Mesa.

General, I thought you guys already had RJ flights to Athens and Rome . . . . .

But where-the-hell is Munich? I can;t find that on my AAA Road Atlas anywhere. Is it in Indiana?

Ty,

It seems to be going that way for us sometimes. But what about you guys and ICT? Are you sad? That airport seemed to have a lot of LCC promise....? Sometimes the RJs are better suited I guess.....on some routes.?.

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

Well, General, I understand how the RJ's will make it to Rome and Athens (just following the interstate) but how on earth are they going to make it to Amsterdam?

And this Wi-cheetah you are referring to, is it anywhere near Munich, Indiana? I can;t seem to find either of them, and I am getting concerned.

Start and Airline

Unfortunately we cannot have everyone start an airline so that they can see just how costs operate. Often time anymore, it is a case of a shell game to see where costs are allocated.

As pointed out earlier, perspective usually has a great deal to do with how things would come out. How many times have I seen airlines started by pilots fail, of course they all had excellent packages for the flight crews. The problem always seemed to be lack of revenue to pay them.

In the end, it is unfailingly simple. We have a certain amount of assets and we want a return. We pick that number and it becomes fixed. With our assets, we can expect to generate a certain amount of revenue. The in between is what we have to pay people, suppliers, lenders, etc.

In the end, what portion to go to flight staff is not determined by someone protecting the profession. There are other factors that impact and what you generally have is some compromise between the remainderment of who gets what.
