FYI - Virgin America leased several aircraft to Skybus while they were waiting for the DOT's permission to start up......

LOL-have you seen some of Delta's planes lately?

I guess a lot of airlines are starting to fall into that category. I love it when airplanes are missing letters of their name because the paint fell off.

I'm not sure if it is the dark color, but United and U.S. Airways have some rough looking airplanes.

Didn't one of VA's execs recently step down. Heard someone on the crew bus taking about it. Said they cashed out their options because they didn't feel VA was long for this world.

I hate to see anyone thrown out on the street, but any airline that states durring an interview "We can't pay you much, but we will make up for it with quality of life" needs to head down the tubes......

I talked to someone who left because they said quality of life was poor. I found it strange because they were super senior.

If there's one advantage to these insane fuel prices, its that they're gonna kill off a lot of the "bottomfeeder" LCCs and make investors wary of investing in new airlines for a long, long time.

He also is a very smart businessman, and they tend to know when to cut their losses. He's not there yet obviously but it can't be long. There is nothing wrong with his concept, he just started his airline during arguably the worst time in US aviation history.

I don't know of any execs who have left. And there are no options... there's no publicly traded stock.

One guy did leave VA. He was the guy who set up the inflight entertainment system. He left to go do the same thing for a Chinese airline. His job at Virgin was done.

I just thought about him and you beat me to it.

Private companies still issue stock and DO have options.

I understand private companies have stock, but how could you have options. How could an exec sell them, and to who?

Back to the paint mismatch...theres nothing there that means anything.

As has been said VA leased a/c to skybus so i am sure they still have parts in old skybus colors. Maybe the cowl was damaged and the only replacement at that moment to keep that bird flying just happened to be off one of the skybus birds which had yet to be painted. It happens, i know we have done it...with smaller parts of course, Republic did it quite a bit when they flew for us...couple birds had cowls off some of their birds not painted in F9 colors because they were available and needed to be replaced asap to keep the birds going.

Nothin' wrong with it.

That aircraft was hit by a fuel truck a week ago in LAX. Its just a replacement part and nothing more. But, an aircraft has a replacement part put on and some of you sing of that carriers demise - Karma's a bitch.

Trump had many failed business ventures, did rather well at others. Smart businessmen kill off the bad ones and really let you know when they do well at others. Branson is no different.

So about the "REDWOOD" call sign- I picture Branson and his Virgin America buddies chuckling into their tea over that one. Most clever.

Because it's a tree in California.

You're right, it is a tree in California, and VA's HQ is in California! ....leaves me a little flat, but may just make an Englishman chuckle heartily.
