One is fact, the other is hope!
Bingo.

VA is simply trying to control the "message" since a privately owned company does not have to make the typical quarterly reports. However they must also report their traffic to the DOT which, in turn, becomes public data and available to competitors and the press.

"Things are improving" beats the press coming up with their own headline like "VA has worst margin in industry."

So what part is what fact and what part is hope? Everything positive is purely hope and everything negative is purely fact?

I get it now, thanks

Hey, I am not harping on you!

The fact is you lost money, the hope is you will not continue to do so! Truth or not?

Airplane orders are all PR anyway. Alaska blew their own horn for years about being the "launch customer" for the MD-90. They never took delivery of one.

Never count on an order until your sitting in it, never count on an upgrade until the paycheck shows up, never count on retiring somewhere until the day you do retire, never count on being hired until you are on line.

Makes working in this industry much easier.

More signs of trouble for Virgin America:

Yes, in yet another sign the company is struggling, crews will now formally be provided with crew meals. This follows on the news the company intends to order up to 60 new aircraft, expansion into new cities, and recent pay raises. Oh please, just put us out of our misery already!

Sounds like a play from the buy our company.
It's an "order" (No down payments) to make headlines and get noticed.
What this says to other airlines is:
1. Look what we are "planning" to do so buy us to get rid of competition.
2. Buy us now because we will be more expensive later.

How can VA get landing slots in ORD, LGA, JFK and DCA when every other airline wants them also?
The only shot they have at them would be help from Sen. Pelosi and that is a long shot.

Yeah, all that for 69 dollar Transcon fares....

Good Luck

I just pulled up SFO to JFK. Prices range from 350 to 1500 each way. Your 69 dollar fare must be a different carrier. Thanks for the wish of luck though. Very kind of you.

How dare you confuse the issue with facts! Oh wait, it must be "wishful thinking".
