Three things.....

First, When the managment came to us and said SWA (or whatever carrier) is doing it for X amount of money, the response was ok....we don't want our wages lowered, so go ahead and let somebody fly a few jets for us to compete. Right or wrong, that was the horse, not the cart that we at a legacy was saddled with. Then the RJDC and other regionals started probing for more and more flying and the airlines hid behind a judges robe to threaten and allow more to occur.

Ralph said his story....how exactly did YOU "get screwed" by Alpa....I need some perspective.

I meant every word to Ralph. I may be rough on here, but I know good people when I see them.

ALPA screwed me and a big group of our pilots at our Regional when I was there to vote in a contract. But when it came time to give me my check for "back pay," due to the fact that I had taken a good job elsewhere I lost quite a bit of money. When asked "Why" those of us who were around to vote in the contract, but left for greener pastures, we were told it was no longer our money. I have a ton of friends that it screwed (some of who went on to the Legacies). That's it in a nutshell. Total Crap!

Our 10 year Bus rates are $1 hr below UAL on the CA side and $5hr on the FO side.

How many 10 year CAs are there? Oh, yeah...ZERO. And there won't be any for another 7 years.

I really have no dog in this fight, but as I continue to scroll down I can't help to think each of us are our own worst enemy. Instead of arguing about pay rates, black ********************s, $7 coupons and who screwed who first why don't each of us find common ground and support your fellow professional? Its not just upper management dictating pay and contracts.....its the pilot sitting next to you. Petty s*it arguments like the reason why we are ALL in the downward spiral of aviation. Unless we all find common ground and become unified front this bs will continue indefinatly.

That is crap.....blame your "friends", not ALPA. They were probably pissed at the whole greener pastures thing and it would have never stood itself up for a vote even if there was a democracy.

NOYB- there are hundreds in my position at SWA- and thousands throughout the industry- but keep thinking that your decision to outsource hasn't affected the industry and that you had no choice- keep blaming everyone else for your lack of spine and integrity- most of us aren't b/thing about our life- but we sure as hell aren't remotely bowing down to any delta pilot with weak overstated opinions

It took me 6 years at Blue to realize that the culture didnt exist. I was a fool to drink the blue juice and think that my company was any different.

After all the failed committees, broken promises, and still substandard pay and benefits I realize that it will not happen unless we negotiate it in a CBA. We already wasted a decade whats another 3-5 years?

Now history repeats itself with VX and AGT pilots. Amazing how people hate the truth.

Why would we spoil the good working relationship we have and the continuing voluntary improvements in pay and working conditions. When THEY start lying and messing with the formula, they will get what they deserve. Until that time there is no reason for a union.

Eggsakly. Look at jetblue. the koolaid slurpurs said the same thing-now, 3 years after a union is really needed, they have none. By the time they get one AND get a mutually agreeable contract, it will be another 4-5 years, minimum. No way the senior management at VA would step a foot inside the executive washroom without a couple of their lawyers negotiating and agreeing to a mutually agreeable contract.
Oh well. Yet another case of "Pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
