ALPA: The Pilots Union

CAL MEC SPSC Special Update June 10, 2008 – Live Streaming of the Rally

As you recall, on March 12th the pilots of Continental took our message directly to the Hedge Fund operators, Fat Cat Investors and Wall Street wannabes in New York City. Tomorrow will be another monumental day in the history of CAL ALPA when we deliver our message directly to our corporate managers. THE LOAN IS DUE!

Knowing that many of you will not be able to attend the event in person, we didn’t want you to miss out on this historic event. In order to facilitate your participation, we are once again going to live stream the event directly to your computers. Our first beta attempt at this was a little like creating the wheel. We managed slightly better than a Flintstone wheel on our first attempt, this time we’re shooting for more of a Goodyear Eagle!

The following is our schedule for Live Streaming the event, make a note of this and plan on booting up your computers to participate in the event via the web.

All Times CDT

10:45-11:30 (tape delay) 1200-1300 (live) 14:45-1600 (live)

Windows Media Player is required, it is a free download. Windows users can click here for the installer. Mac users can click here for a direct link to the download, or here for the page that the download link is provided on (look on the bottom right of the page!) as well as installation instructions. When installed, Mac users will have to use the File --> Open URL menu item, and paste the following link in the dialog box.

In Addition to these links you may also go to www.theloanisdue.com or the calalpa.org website and click on the links to watch the live streaming.

If you are attending the event, we wanted to take this last opportunity to remind you that there will be plenty of activities for your family to keep them occupied until the Rally kicks off in Sam Houston Park. Upon sign in at the Hobby center they will be issued wrist bands for full paid admission into the Houston Aquarium. The Aquarium is only a short walk from the Hobby Center so you don’t need to worry about transportation.

If you are driving your personal vehicle to the Hobby Center you may be curious about parking. We have arranged two separate parking facilities to accommodate those of you driving. When you arrive at the Hobby Center (primary parking lot) you will receive a parking ticket, make sure you keep that so that you may get it validated (free parking!). The secondary lot is located adjacent to the Hobby center and if you click the following link it will display a map of downtown depicting the various lots mentioned above.

If you have not made arrangements to attend the rally it’s not too late. Just show up at the Union Hall, Wednesday the 11th at 0800 in summer uniform with HAT. We’ll take care of the rest. Don’t miss out on this historic event.

SEE YOU AT THE RALLY!

Watching it right now!

A note for Mac users: You can also use VLC to watch this. It's a much faster, more useful video player anyway than the Mac version of WMP.

Don't agree with the American flag tie.

That is an official ALPA tie.
Doesn't mean it's right to wear.

"Therefore, a flag includes any representation of it of any substance, with stars and stripes of any number. This would include T-shirts and ties.
The Flag Code states that the flag should never be worn. (Section 8d): "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel."

Please educate me as why you feel that way? Organized labor isn't entitled to wear an American flag when conducting a professional organized military type of demonstration? My friends are running the picket line and I take offense to your comment.

I wouldn't take offense to it. He's just posting what the flag code says. I have one of those ALPA ties, and yes, they are official ALPA apparel, but they are also technically against the flag code.

Congrats on the very successful rally, by the way. I wish you guys the best of luck.
